Description |
Data from vbpicgallery Year Make Model: 300kw Manual VR-4 Subject: Type: Description: I used to have a 1998 Facelift 1.8 GDI Legnum, purchased December 2003. It had a large exhaust on it and had BBS 17x7 multispoke mags on it. Very nice to drive with the lowered suspension and it looked amazing in black. I still think this car looks nicer than my VR-4. I bought it with 89km on it and sold it in July 2005 with 145km. I bought a 1998 VR-4 Type S in May 2005. As soon as I saw this car I knew it was the one I wanted - it has everything: MMCS, Sun Roof, Recaro seats, Momo wheel, Wide wheel arches, and best of all two turbos This car was 100% stock when I bought it with the original mags, stock exhaust, suspension and engine bay. Mods so far: 08/05 2.5" Downpipes, cat removed, 3" exhaust system with 2x 4.5" tips 08/05 Tanabe lowering springs 09/05 Installed DVD player that works with MMCS 10/05 Tinted front windows, 35% 10/05 Put vented bonnet on - still not painted! Also purchased matching bumper and side skirts 01/06 Finally got EVO 7 17x8" mags and Goodyear GSD3 F1 235/45/17 tyres put on, purchased in 07/05 07/06 Wedsport TC-005 17x9.5" Forged 7.1kg mags installed with the tyres from the EVO7 wheels installed. 09/06 Conversion to Manual Transmission with Exedy Heavy Duty clutch 05/07 Got it back finally after installing an Autronic ECU, BOV, Intercooler, re-doing all turbo pipes, fuel pump etc. 227.9kw at 5300rpm at the wheels, and 435.7nm at 4200rpm at the wheels. It makes 154kw at 3250rpm, which is more than it had at stock at max power up at 5500rpm! At the flywheel it's probably close to 300kw, and around 610nm! It has over 500nm from 2750 to 5700rpm. Fuel economy is great too, I got over 500km for the first tank after getting it back. My normal petrol usage is 11-12L/100km using 98 octane. 06/07 Just fitted some Evo 6.5 TME Recaro seats into it, they are very comfortable and great around corners. 01/08 Put 235/45/17 Bridgestone S-03's on the car. Can't tell any difference between these and the GSD3's to be honest. 04/08 Spent a day racing at Pukekohe race track. When stock my car was getting up to 190kmh on the back straight, now it gets to 230kmh, and 205kmh on the front straight compared to 165kmh. It performed very well and was the fastest road legal car down the straights on the day. Used approx 35 litres in 115km of driving. 06/08 Installed a new radiator from an EVO4-6 which is about 50% thicker than a standard VR-4 radiator. Hope this will stop the temperature needle climbing when on the track. 07/08 Installed a Cusco rear strut brace and a 24mm rear anti-roll bar to replace the stock 22mm item. Will be fitting the front one soon. 08/08 Fitted front 22mm Cusco anti-roll bar to replace the stock 20mm bar. 09/08 Fitted EVO 9 wheels with 235/45/17 GSD3's while I save up for 255/40/17 tyres for the Wedsport wheels. The S-03's were down to 3mm tread and were bloody scary at the first sign of moisture. 10/08 Carbotech XP10 front and XP8 rear brake pads. Squeal like mad at low temps, but stop the car like no-ones business. So much better than the stock pads it is unbeleiveable. 05/09 Fitted Super AYC Diff from an EVO 8 In the future I will get the body kit fitted and painted, I'm also going to get custom cams made up to go with my adjustable cam gears, and I'll upgrade to GT2554R turbos at some point. Before the turbos go in I will get the pistons and rods forged, I beleive the stock ones are at their limits with 228kw ATW 10/06 I bought another one! It is a white prefacelift VR-4. This one only cost me $4000, and I sold it in 09/07 for $4260, can't beat that! I also nicked the black leather out of it, and the double din touch screen unit, did 20000km's in it and had it for nearly a year. Can't beat that! 07/07 Yet another Legnum! That makes 4. Interestingly this is the oldest one yet, but it suits me perfectly, being a Manual ST-R V6 2.5l 4WD Legnum that has a towbar and the big moonroof. It is also in one of the best factory colours, Meister Blue. It has a black leather interior, and 17x7 Enkei RPF1 wheels on it. 09/07 My craziest purchase yet, a 1994 BMW 850CSi. This is an incredibly rare car, there is only 160 of them worldwide. I've wanted one since I was six years old, and now I finally get to have one. 5.6l V12, 6 speed manual, and absolutely gorgeous. Had Barry our fearless leader pick it up from Ireland for me and it is currently sitting in a workshop in NZ waiting for rust removal and other little things to be sorted out. |

16-06-2006 |
where can i score an autronic ecu? how much? |
|
16-06-2006 |
The SM4 is worth about $2400, plus it will need a good $600 worth of tuning. It is also really difficult to get working on a tiptronic car as well. |
|
15-08-2006 |
Kalle, what pictures are you interested in most? The autronic is a complete ecu like an Apexi P-FC, the batteries seem to be fine on their side |
|
15-08-2006 |
Also interested to know more on the moved battery, is it really ok to have the new batteries lying down?? |
|
15-08-2006 |
Do you have more pictures gathered somewhere else? I want to see more! Also interested to know more about the Autronic work |
|
24-06-2006 |
Man the twin exhaust system looks great |
|
25-06-2006 |
And the sound it makes isn't bad either |
|
06-09-2006 |
Nice...just wondering if the new Wedsport TC-005 17x9.5"wheels don't rub on the fenders...it's so wide! What offset ? |
|
06-09-2006 |
They are 35mm offset. At the front they are perfectly fine. At the back they will rub a bit, but EVO 5/6 flares will sort that out at the back |
|
06-09-2006 |
Put some pics up of the wheels, didn't realise I didn't put any up yesterday |
|
23-03-2010 |

19-05-2007 |
In the pic of the engine bay, the one with the pipes going into that box.... what is the box ? |
|
19-05-2007 |
Goku - the box where the battery would normally be is a sealed cold air box. It gets air from behind the front bumper |
|
19-05-2007 |
Anthony - yeah the seats are nice |
|
20-05-2007 |
Nice, just wondered as I haven't seen one with 2 pipes from it before. Looks real sharp, good work |

27-07-2007 |
The ECU, the piping and similar things will get you most of the way there. |
