Master K (or possibly HMG1K) should know this one.Originally Posted by mesobitchy

Definitely not an option on the JDM cars, AFAIK.

Why not become a full member of CVR4 and enjoy the additional benefits membership brings?! Information here.
Or, is there an easy way to determine whether we have it or not by poking our head under the back of the car?
this might seem daft but WTF is self leveling suspention?!
thought all suspention was the same!
I presume you are refering to a non VR4 estate?
I good way to check if you've got it, is to put something really heavy in the boot! Then drive round the block and if your ride height has gone back up to normal then you've got it and its working!

If you want more info theres some here:

okies... so 9 2'x2'x2" patio slabs shoud do the job then?
i done that an boy did it lower the damn car, done this about 3 or 4 times over a distance of about 3 miles each way. soon as they were out the car returned to normal hight. ie you could swing a bus under it!
soooo you mean to say if i had self leveling suspention the ride hight would not have gone low, even with the weight in the back?
It would have gradually gone back up.
GalantOnly knows more about it I think. A good indication IIRC, is that the springs are a different shape.
nah me car "sprag" back up th emore we unloaded it (pun intended)
I also believe that there is usually a small decal somewhere (like where the 4WD sticker on the VR-4 is, or on the tailgate, possibly). Obviously, with yours having been repainted in the past, if it had have had self-levelling suspension, that decal may have been taken off anyway.
But it seems yours is like 99% of UK estates - boggo!
fairys muff.
Here you can compare self-leveling (left) standard (right)
not much differance is there!
other then the standar has a thicker spring an a thinner arm and that plasticy thinggy bob.
cheers for the piccy refferance
i had self leveling suspension on a turbo deisel montego estate i had for carring crap round in, and it had massive shocks on the back but nothing else attached to it and it worked great but mercs on the other hand had hydrolic sevlf leveling suspension with an extra hose coming off the shock to a pump.
not sure how the self contained shock type ones work but they do.
Bye for Now!
All UKDM estates had self-levelling. It wasn't an option, it was just there.
It's been a crazy year, But through all the damage done,
I have turned and I have learned, To make next year a better one,

Singing Oh I am home.

okies just spoke, well text K, and has confirmed all uk estates do have it as standard!!!
the plot an plan thickens!
Happy to have been corrected!
the springs on self leveling are wider, if you try and put them over a normal shock it will just slide over and wont sit in the cup. i wouldnt mind self leveling on mind to be honest as i quite often carry weight, not sure if it could be done?
whats a UKDM estate? is it ralliart vr4 estate? as mine seems to have the non levelling ones, you can just soo the skinny shock over the back wheel, just looked
