EOI: Aftermarket cam grinds and Valve spring group buy

Recently I have been talking to some head work and cam specialists, kennelly cams here in christchurch (run by the man who used to desgin cam profiles for kelfords) after leaving a complete head with him for a day he says he should be able to regrind our factory cams to an advertised duration @ 0.1mm lift of around 264 degrees with in the relm of 10.5m of lift for around the $600 mark.
this seems fantastic to me and alot cheaper then buying billet "HKS" grinds which are as far as i have seen 272 duration but measured at 0 lift, and the most lift I have seen on aftermarket cams if .343" or aproxx 8.5mm
Along with this I Have compared 4g63t valve springs to 6A13TT ones..... They FIT !! the only issue i can see so far is i think the valve stem diameter in the 6A13 is narower then the 4G63T, however it is the same as 4G93T
when i can get my hands on a valve spring compressor i will test if 4g63T retainers and collets fit if not i will test the 4G93T ones. this could open a door to cheaper cam and valve train modifications.

folowing if the above testing for fitment of collets and retainers is sucessful, this could be a possible EOI for anyone who is intrested in a group buy on evo valve springs and cam regrinds. I myself and possibly carl could be intrested in doing this some time after the christmas period, or febuary time frame (provided suitable retainers can be found) the valve springs will have to be bought in lots of 3 between 2 people as 3x16 = 2x24 or we will be left with 8 springs left over which no-one can use.

I will update with photos after I get my eager hands onto a Valve spring compressor

Thanks well after alot of lurking in threads on here and oz vr4, with all the trouble finding aftermarket parts people have I had a good hunt, its alot easier now that I have a spare engine to compare other parts against.
while im here I may as well mention that with talking to tony (unsure of his club username) he has figured that 4G93T cam gears are the same as the 6a13tt, however as our cam angle sensor pickup is driven by the front exhaust cam gear simply putting 2 sets of 4g93 adjustable cam gears on wont work, tony is looking at fitting the stock cam angle pickup onto the back of the 4g93t adjustable cam gear and I plan to see if a 4gxx cam angle sensor (if it sends the same pulse output) can be used, as the 4Gxx engines use a cam angle sensor driven off the back of the cam shaft (fits into where the black blanking plugs go on our engines). if either soloution works we have easily available adjustable cam gears also without having to have the stock ones cut and custom alloy center housings made as i beleive you can get a set of 4g93t cam gears for 50USD.

may as well mention other bits too
    Forged conrods- http://www.pauter.com/mitsubishi.htm
for the price listed there they do have the blueprints for 6A13tt rods the russians have used them (dont bother asking about their titanium rods though $6000+ WOW)

Pistons- although not listed anywhere on the sites JE have made pistons, as have CP, Here is the JE order form thanks to Catalan JE order form 6A13TT.jpg

I started a thread a while ago about forged crankshafts which zentac shed some light on with A company which can make them although for a hefty price of aproxx 2200GBP

other crossover parts worth an honorable mention are
-6a12 FTO non mivec front cam covers (giving the plastc mitsubishi cover over the coils) I think descovered by Gly
-Evo 4-9 RS plate type rear lsd cartrages fitting inside ST-R diff casing for plate type lsds think it was kenneth that figured that one
-The well known facelift brembo conversion
-Evo clutches and flywheels with nickmanns spacer
-USDM eclipse Poly engine mounts and suspention bushes

Have you got a chance to compare the lash adjusters/tappets from Evo 4-6 with our stock from vr4?
Have seen info on Russian forum that tappets are the same, hence easy way to find uprated tappets for our engines. Hadn't got chance yet to compare...
    Ex: Galant VR4
Running 268 HP ATW and 443 Nm torque at 0.9 bar
    Now: Lancer Evolution 8 FQ-300
Running 325 HP ATW and 510 Nm torque at 1.6 bar

Righto today after work i borrowed a valve spring compressor and removed the vr4 valve spring for measurements, the following picture is what resulted
    IMG.jpg
The great news is the valve springs are IDENTICAL. however the retainers and collets are a different story (the pictures didnt attach in the order I wanted them to sorry but bare with me

This shows the back of the collets, Evo on left VR4 on the right, they are pretty much identical from this veiw 1mm difference in width at the wide end at most
    IMG065.jpg
This shows a vr4 exhaust valve stem fitted with evo collets and retainer, fits very tightly
    IMG070.jpg
Showing how tightly a VR4 collet Fits into a VR4 valve stem

Comparison of retainers, VR4 left, Evo Right
    IMG064.jpg
Showing the slight gap between VR4 Valve Stem and Evo collet

Evo valve spring sitting in 6A13TT head (exhaust rear bank)
    IMG074.jpg
Comparison of collets Evo left VR4 right, NOTE!!! the grove on the Evo collet is at the very top (wide end of the collet) where as the grove on the VR4 one is in the center of the collet, ALSO NOTE COLLETS ARE UPSIDE DOWN IN THIS PIC

Now in doing this I can see that the evo retainers will work with the VR4 valve stems but I would like to compare 4G93T retainers or at the very least 4G93T collets in the evo retainer if anyone can get a hold of one of these 4G93T items and get it to me to fit or measure them selves would be great,
Also can a mod please change the title of this thread to a EOI: aftermarket cam grinds and Valve spring group buy

    2g eclipse suspension.

You want forged stuff, I got my pistons + rods from a hyundai sonata (well from 2 @ $100 each engine then scapped the rest)

I also have an inkling* that some kai models also have the some of the same engine parts. But I have not confirmed this.

so you have forged pistons and rods in your 6a13 from a sonata?
I do beleive this needs to be further explained...

I think it could be something to do with the Hyundai Delta engine or the Mu engine.
