    Tappets/ Lash Adjuster from gto?

Hey folks, had my eye on a set of new 3mm tappets for my legnum, but searching the bay a set of 3000 gto 3mm lifters came up for cheap and I am just wondering if they will fit our vr4 engines?

Not sure to what extent the engines and parts actually differ between legnum vr4's and gto vr4's?

    Cheers, Ross.

3000 GTO tappets will not fit.
You need to compare dimensions not just look at the pictures. The 4g63 evo tappets don't fit either.

IIRC there are three sizes of hydraulic tappets / lash adjusters from Mitsubishi engines of our era. And as Dave said, neither GTO nor EVO adjusters fit. The GTO engine is massively different to ours - only the fact it can be described as a V6 transverse twin turbo makes it sound similar, I'm afraid.

Interesting, what engine is in the the pajero, maybe a search on eBay for these lash adjusters will show something.

Currently £4.80 each, or £120 for a set of 24.

Hmmm, it's £115.20 to order 24 singles! Mike (@), that can't be right, can it! Surely a set of 24 should be cheaper than 24 singles!?

    Why not.
Mitsi never sold tappets as sets, always single one. So why not a discount for buying bigger batch from seller?

ASA is not official Mitsi tool and in some instances is quite misleading (like Evo 6 TME production).
They messed with GDI tappes vs. 6A13TT. Not the same.

I don't see any mention of gdi in screen shot from asa.
And you suggest that dealer mitsubishi (gallagher Warrington) use not authorised soft? As in many cases when I was there ordering bits they show me on very same software parts for confirmation of what i ordered , imo it will be, at least, odd if this is not mitsi tool.

Adam, I'm fed up with arguing...
ASA is not an official Mitsi tool, none such part catalogue ever existed. ASA is 3rd party tool, quite handy, but has its hiccups. There were few picked up recently on MLR.

Tappets... Which engine you think share the same tappets?
    Diesels: 4Dxx or 4Mxx - obviously not.
V6? Not it's been there 6G7x family - all incl. GDI have different tappets.
So you are left with 4G63, 4G63T (Evo tappets), and GDI series 4G93, 4G54 and 4G64. The last 3 engines share the same tappets which are almost identical to tappets from 6A1x, difference in length, can't remember which one are fraction taller. And because of this, there is mess in cross reference and in some catalogue those are marked as replacement. They not, and different part number is there for a reason.
I did thtread here about this months ago... nevermind....

Im not arguing that was not my intend, Im just saying that i seen authorised mitsi dealer use it to find parts and cross reference it.
I never have an issue with any part find in asa, there are some missing nr, like few bits for super versions.
Anyway, I would happily folow what is suggest and I can bet, it will fit. There must be someone competent writen such a software and if this is not what mitsi use then what they use?

There is software referred to as CAPS that looks about the same as ASA. My local dealership uses something like that too.

Its a good price regardless of the economy of scale from Viamoto though. @oakleaf

Ok so here is my question on the tappet topic.

Evo tappets have 3 different variants,

    gen 1 oldest design
1mm hole in top nipple (oil outlet), 1mm hole in side (oil inlet).

    gen 2 next oldest
3mm hole in top nipple (oil outlet), 1mm hole in side (oil inlet).

    gen 3 newest design
3mm hole in top nipple (oil outlet) 2mm hole in side (oil inlet).

So why do the VR4 tappets on have 2 gens
and only have gen 2 equivalent as the best on offer.
3mm hole in top nipple (oil outlet), 1m hole in side (oil inlet).

why did the vr4 not get th3 3rd gen tappet?

this is only my theory but i think it is a sound theory,
the vr4 went out of production before the 3rd gen tappet became available so they never made it for the VR4.
if the 3rd gen tappet is the one to use for an evo why has it not been made for the vr4. demand, demand, demand.
they is not enough people wanting the 3rd gen design to make it worth while producing.
this however dose not mean the 3rd gen tappet is not the right choice for the vr4.
it is about time someone made a set of 3 gen tappets and see what happens/what differnece it make.

    Hmmmmm!
