So, this will be a bit of a long post, so TL;DR first Bought a Legnum with broken transmission. Had a spare on hand and did the job. Now the car is driving, but seems to have no boost pressure and error codes 43, 72, 24 and 77. Any ideas? Now for the whole and long stuff. So, the car is a 1996 Pre-facelift VR-4 that seems to be a winter spec. The guy I bought from seemed to have some knowledge on cars, but didn't seem to be most familiar with all the stuff Legnums have going on them....

So the time has finally arrived. I have facilities, money and some spare time to start the rebuild. Gonna need some help on here though as this is a lot more than I have ever taken on before. The plan is to strip down to bare chassis, modify the bulkhead so that bigger tubs can be fitted and get it acid dipped and seam welded. All of the running gear will be standard but beefed up where possible.

Long story short: I've been after a Galant vr4 for absolutely ages but have never had the funds to either buy one and fix or be able to afford some of the ridiculous asking prices for these cars in most cases(typical I'm selling it but I want to buy 2 to replace the one I just sold)my budget isn't house deposit size, This car has been a long sought after dream of my dads and he has just never had the technical knowhow to look deep enough on the internet(limited to Facebook where there is mostly...

I've discovered I have a broken front turbo housing. Where the Y pipe bolts on. I have a parts car that's low mileage. How much of a pig of a job is it to change a front turbo? Sent from my SM-G981B using Tapatalk

So I annoyingly failed my NCT (MOT) yesterday as my horn didn't work, so I've done some initial testing today but can't seem to easily locate the source of the problem :-( 1. Fuse box First test was to continuity test the fuse in the internal fuse box for the horn and check that that was fine - it is (*and I tested all the other fuses just for good measures) 2. Air bag switch Second test was to disconnect the battery, unbolt the air bag and test the switch on the air bag that it...

Hi all, So my name is Adam, I will have met a few of you over the weekend your recent workshop meet. I'm Next to / behind Garry (the weird guy who rocked up in his Blue MX5 and sort of gate crashed at area 52, I was invited honest!) and it was great to meet a nice Friendly bunch and whilst the noise of what I would call a quite unique sounding V6 might have got on my wife & my dog's nerves I will be honest it got under my skin a little. And after speaking with a few of you and the perspective...

Hi all i have been promising this for a few months now to a few people and i am finally ready to release my first Coil On Plug conversion kit. This is a honda coil pack based conversion system. this kit will be a fully plug and play kit, no soldering, no drilling holes, no hassle. All you need to be able to do is tap a thread into an existing hole in the rear rocker cover or fit a rivnut into that hole instead. it is still a wasted spark system like the original ignition system but...

I'm going to be buying some ARP head bolts to go into my engine. See here for what and why! They come in boxes of 10, and we need 16 per engine. So, buying 5 sets, we get 3 engines (plus 2 spare). Buying 8 sets, we get 5 engines.

As the title says - just wondered if anyone is going to Japfest at Silverstone this year? I'll be convoying down the night before but leaving straight after the show to go home I'll be there with West Coast JDM and bringing my Legnum in its current state provided my driveshaft swap is successful :anxious:, so if anyone wants to see the car in the flesh then feel free to say Hi. The car is a bit rough around the edges but i think it's a pretty solid base to start with anyway, and will...

OK. We've made some good headway on inner cv joints on the front. Let's talk outer joints. I did a quick search on here and didn't come up with much, and browsing Amayama confused the hell out of me. So what do we know about the front outer joints? As you can probably tell I'm going to be working through all the driveshaft joints so that people like myself who are ready, willing and most importantly able/competent in changing joints themselves have the info readily to hand to be...

Greetings from Finland. Just recently got a project Legnum VR4 1996 that has transmission problems. Still need to assemble the new transmission and after that can get to assessing the car properly. The car it self has been almost a daily driver for quite a while to previous owners, but has been sitting with the broken transmission for a bit over six months. Also at least two previous owners did not do the best work on keeping it in shape, so some rust here and there, some pain chipping...

Hi, Has anyone got a spare stock fuel pump for sale to hopefully fix or work out a stalling issue. Happy to purchase the whole unit. Not sure if I can fit an uprated 225 Walbro one unless its a straight swap without having to uprate regulator. Not 100% my stalling issue is the pump yet. Thanks.

Hi everyone, hope you're all well. Had a bit of a clear out today and came across two air filters. One is a HKS mushroom filter, brand new and sealed in box. Believe they are discontinued now. Was thinking £50 posted. The other is also in a HKS box, but looks like a K&N filter to me. I think it was briefly fitted to my V6 Galant. £25 posted fair? Let me know if of any interest!

Hi all, Im Mal from south island new zealand. Not a current VR4 owner but had one many years back when i was young and less wise. My current vehicle has become past its used by date so im on the lookout for a replacement. I had a 2007 Legacy GT auto a few years back until the wife decided it was too small  and was browsing for another to relace my current POS. I came across a 97 legnum VR4 which brought back memories of my old one. It seems not too bad. Has 227K km but the trans...
