As promised, here are some pics and details on my friends VR-4. He has a Link computer, twin air filters going straight to each turbo (no MAF). He has all custom metal piping and a 600x300x76mm Intercooler.

2 External Wastegates are installed, each with a screamer pipe. We set off about 4 car alarms driving down broadway in newmarket on Saturday night with them :D

The car already has a big exhaust on it, but no headers, we will probably get the headers done together at Pitstop newmarket in about 2-3 weeks time.

It is running at 12psi boost at the moment, and is definately much much faster than my car. There should be some more pics up soon.

I think it was all motorsport or something like that in manukau, I've told him to hurry up and reply to this post ;)

There will be a dyno day at torque performance on the 13th of August, I intend to be there, as does my mate. If anyone is keen to come along....

All right dudes (and bradc) all the work was done at All Motor in Manukau, there were many issues with the linkplus install as mine was the first...but it all seems to be alright now...tho starting is still abit rough :evil2:
It was all good on Saturday till a small radiator hose burst...has anyone had this happened to them? ...it's all been replaced now, so I'm happy!
And as mentioned, I will be along to the Torque Performance's dyno day in a few weeks...hope to see some of you guys there! :chugchug:

Very interesting! How does the ECU cope with no MAF? How does it control the fueling? Is the Link computer a replacement ECU?

The LinkPlus completely replaces the factory ECU and it's sensors, hence no MAF. Air, Fuel, Ignition, Revs are all controlled by the LinkPlus. It also has built in launch controller and flat shifting options...all which are nice toys.

Looks Good and hopefuly you will find a nice power incresase to... /Steeringw I saw this kind of set up on a couple of Lexus Soarers at JAE at the weekend and wondered how it was possible.. /Hmmm

It all makes sense now ..

I thought the wastegates on our turbo's were actually part of the turbo itself. Have the turbo's been changed?

Still stock turbos. Amazing noise through the wastegates. I'll try to capture a video next time we are cruising.

The car is definately up heaps on power compared to mine.

The tubing split was interesting, there are lots of small tubes coming out of the block than go into the thermostat housing. One of these was split and basically all the water from the radiator emptied out. I was surprised such a small and fragile tube could ruin the whole car. Maybe braided tubes are an option in this area.

Hmm very interesting thread indeed..

How much was this Link system? Did it take long to install and setup?

Very intrigued

I think the whole setup was about NZ$5k, but you'll need to check with Uc (you see). It took about 2 weeks for the whole setup to be done.

The LinkPlus was approx NZD2000 installed and road tuned and took approx 10 days...there were a few problems...think second time round it may only take a week...tho I think they'd needa break from the headaches this one caused...hehe /pan

Will be getting dyno tuned once all mods are completed...still a fair bit to go yet! /JawDroppi

whoops I was a bit out on the price then. How much was it for the wastegates, tubing and intercooler side of things then?

I think the whole setup was about NZ$5k, but you'll need to check with Uc (you see). It took about 2 weeks for the whole setup to be done.

600x300x76 (core) intercooler, 2x K&N filters, LinkPlus installed + Road tuned, Battery relocated to the boot w/ battery box, custom alloy piping w/Samco joiners, 2x 38mm Wastegates w/screamer pipes, 4 gauges installed (Boost, Oil Pressure, Oil Temp & Water Temp) all came up to NZD5390

.....Wastegates w/screamer pipes,....

Am trying to imagine how crazy it sounds :evil2:

I wont comment on the price until I work out the exchange rate to sterling!! :inquisiti /Hmmm

As I said, I'll take a video of it next time with my digi cam, the sound is just amazing above 4000rpm.

I guess it is about 2000 pounds for the guys in the UK

If your interested in computer upgrades i went i to see Gary Caper motorsport in Pukekohe. I've seen them building full-on evo rally cars and they know what there doing. Be worth a phone call if your serious. They also seem a bit cheeper than the prices i'm hearing quoted.

Cheers WCUR008, might give them a call for internals, once the funds get up there again. /Hmmm
