Hi

I'm looking at importing a 97-99 VR4 manual sedan and was wondering if anyone can recommend places to deal with and a rough guest on the costs involved?

yea man you could get one cheaper here than paying alot just to import it in and then going through compliance and all that.

Talk to either Hayden or Allan.

Super friendly, efficient, honest and realistic.

They are constantly selling 1996 - 2000 VR4 wagon and sedans. Manual and Autos. They generally have 5 or so in stock at one time, but this month they've virtually sold out. More on the way, so if you talk to the guys, tell them you're from Club VR-4 and mention me (Jono), they'll definatly get you a pearla.

Having said that, there's heaps of VR-4s for sale else where, but I highly recommend Storey's.

Thanks, will give them a try.

The price on VR'4s seems to be about 5k higher than a equivalant Subaru which is why I was looking at importing

We used www.cwicars.com, Pete is a kiwi who lives in Japan. Really helpful, and knows which areas to avoid for rust etc. He only imports grade 4 and higher so you can be resonably sure you're not buying a bogged up crapper

My two pieces of advise would be to avoid anything too modified, compliance can be a nightmare, (the voice of experience /pan ), and don't get too higher expectations of how much you're going to save.

I am importing a 1997 legnum VR4 with 96Km (auction grade 4) myself at the moment (it will be here in just over a week). By the time it is on the road it will owe me $9000 give or take a couple of hundred. It was hard finding a good one, at least 80% of the cars I checked out had underbody rust (all of them being from the same region in Japan - Chubu? or something which is where the skifields are, and they use salt on the access roads). So if you do import one yourself, use a reputable auction or dealer.

The markets fluctuate a lot in japan, and VR4's are going for stupid prices at the moment.

The site I used is www.aucsat.co.nz. However it is dealer only so you would need to know a licensed dealer.
