:inquisiti at long last its here as the other thread says so ive been cleaning her like a slave all day and thinking what mods to do first

my list is as follows

Toad CAt1
New head unit
new wheels and tyres gona go for 225/40x17's i think
New twin exit system with de-cat
electronic valve controller
i dont think im gona go down the induction kit route on this one as there are so many pros and cons

do you think this is a wise list or is there any thing else i should be looking at

I think thats a very wise list! Although im not a VR4 owner (yet), that sounds like the way foward. Not thought about any suspension mods? Some nice JDM coilovers perhaps?

And just on a side, would a single 3" system be more efficient than a dual 2.5"?

Something you might want to add in there if you have a tiptronic is a trans cooler. Apart from that those basic mods should make quite a big difference to the car.

45 profile is better on 225 17's. Closer to the correct rolling circumference and more sidewall.

I am running 235 45 17's on mine.

Good list of mods to start - don't forget the brakes!!

Nick is right !! /yes the brakes dont work.
for everyday use, they are ok. but If you use the car like it should be used.. ie; on the track/slapping down scooby's etc :smug: they dont work. /help

the brakes are on my list but in very faint pen

i wil prob do the same as the evo and just put a good set of grooved disks with mintex race pads
i got to be honest that was a pretty good set up on a car that was over 300 brake

and i dont really go that mad any more as it is a family estate car well that is what i keep telling her in doors

The fronts are the same setup as the evo 4, I think. How much does an evo 4 weigh? They are good for stopping hard once or maybe twice.

In the members area are the details for getting hold of some national racing grooved discs and ferodo ds2500's for around £250. Well worth the £20 membership fee.

national discs & DS2500 pads will help, but bear in mind VR4's weigh nearly 2 tons !! :rolleyes4 they take a bit of stopping !! /yes /yes

VR4's don't weigh nearly 2 tons. don't be silly.

they are 1460kg's - well, mine is anyway.

Decent pads will make your brake rotors work well, - well enough for legal driving anyway.

Go for some decent shocks and springs. i have just upgraded to tein fully adjustable suspension from my KYB's and they are awesome.

Good tyres are a must. i recommend GoodYear Eagle GSD3's or Dunlop DZ101's

That should sort your handling out.

As for go fast bits, unless you are gonig to do the exhaust fully from the turbos, i would recommend just chopping off the back muffler and putting a free flow one on.

Then i would get a decent electronic boost controller and an SAFC.

if i had my time again - thats what i would do and in that order too.

thats the dry weight , the manufacturer's alway qoute dry weights because they sound good , as soon as you add all the fluids , 60l fuel 4 litres of engine oil , 9 l atf , 2 l screen wash and however much a battery holds , soon adds up to a fair wack , ooh forgot about the rear diff and ayc fluids on the vr4

My last VR4 - '97 Legnum, tiptronic type S came in at 1660 kg with less than 1/2 tank of fuel and no one inside.

Fill the tank and add a couple of people and you are looking at close on 1800 kg.

Did I mention BRAKES!!

Plus fluids, passengers, etc etc. When I took my old V6 Sport to a public weighbridge, it measured up at about 1450ish kilos.... And the quoted weight was about 1325....

Or nearly two metric tonnes. /pan /grr /Hijack

Erm, anyway - regarding mods.... As many others have said - Sort the brakes. With nearly 2 tons/2 metric tonnes/1660kg/whatever of car to stop, they work hard - they're quite underbraked as standard I think. /yes

I have 3g discs and red ceramic pads on my vr4...

A good, cheapish setup... but cant compare to the national/ferodo setup yet.
