Hi guys, sadly i'm having to take a guy to court after wrecking my Legnum VR4 badly fitting a car alarm, therefore the car will be written off, before it goes I want to sell the private plate i put on it, to anyone on here wishing to own it.

L66 NUM

Give me a reasonable price including my transfer fee and it will be yours.
I'm totally gutted cos i think this will be my first and last VR4.

It was fun while it lasted :chugchug:

Email: ntrance@ntrance.plus.com

Thanks

Al.

Basically i had a clifford 650 concept alarm fitted, everything seamed fine until the engineer tried to fit the intellistart unit, instead of finding out 100% where the wire went he couldn't find it. In his wisdom he started to check wires with a Lamp test.

Yep 12V down a load of sensor wires straight from the battery.

After a nice plume of smoke down the road the car was running on less than 6Cyls !

Looking at the dash board was like a christmas tree, blinking away.

AYC & traction control flashing away, engine warning light on etc.

The car spent a whole month up in sandycroft, deeside with out beeing looked at, and when they did, low and behold the ecu reader come up in japaneese ! WooHoo.

"we aint touching that" in a round about way !
SO i had to drive my car without full throttle for a few weeks until i got the spares off zedy and still the AYC and traction control are still faulty.
3 Ecus
2 Coil Packs
Ignition Amp

Off Mitsi main dealer 2 x Throtle sensors £ 350 :(

I only had the car 2 weeks before the damange was done. (Feb 2005)

You can clearly see where the wires have been probed to, the guy is an idiot !

I basically need to cut my losses with this motor, He broke it and i'm already £1000 down in repair costs myself.

Basically the car has NO AYC now and ABS is vague, i just dont trust it any more.
Gear change fault has come back, he's well and trully messed the install up.

As you can possible tell i'm fuming with anger, cos i really , really love the legnum, hence my number plate !

Oh the eng knows more about the legnum after i put him in contact with ZEDY !
Bit late mind !

Can you PM me about the clifford install as all my electrical problems seem to go back to the Intellistart fitted by an incompetent engineer.

Thats a really depressing story. I guess it shows us that we need to be careful with our cars getting them repaired.

Any reason why you aren't getting another vr-4 when you get your money back? I'd be pushing them to buy you another vr-4.

their are so many so called alarm/stereo fitters around
i have interviewed around 15 in my time and their genral lack of understadind is beyond me how these people , have the confidence to work on cars is beyond me .
what you need is a factory trained installer who has over 16 years exprance
now who can that be /Hmmm /Hmmm /Hmmm

------look below --------

does this chap work for himself or a company ?

He WORKED as a sub-contractor for GAP Security, and i belive he was a proper Clifford enigneer in his time, LOL.

My Legnum was green with tan leather, and i aint seen another like it, it only had 55,000Km on it to. I did see a W reg but at the cost of £10,000 bit out of my league, nice paint job, but with like 70,000 Miles

I love them to bits, excellent cars, but if the ecu can't be read in english, and "ralliart" mitsi don't want to look at it, then there is no hope when things go very wrong with it.

Al

you should have read my postings about RSE Motorsport in Llandudno Junction. They have correctly diagnosed all the problems in my Legnum and a lot cheaper than the so called xperts /Hmmm

RSE also service my Evo2.

Sandycroft ? That will be Gallaghers then ? /Hmmm again

Gap eh ? Can you PM me as I had my Clifford stuff fitted by one of their subcontractors as well. I am currently involved in a row with them.

i have heard a lot of bad press for gap and i have seen some of their work
it appears to me that they take any one on board as a sub contractor with out
checking their abbiltys

so the rumer goes etc

Al.

They can read the japanese ECU's... I had this problem many moons ago, the first place couldn't read it, and cos it was a grey import they couldn't be arsed. However.. after visiting Mitsi in Eccles, i was informed that they are able to read the japanese ECU's - From my understanding there is a Rom thingy, like a game on a gameboy. They just swap that out of the thingy-ma-read-ma-ecu-ma-bob depending on the car. However they, as a dealership need to buy this replacement Rom.

Hmmm, this info is good news, maybe i could get it sorted out once and for all.

I will get a solicitor to draft up a letter write it off or fix it at no expense spared.

Thanks Voodoo & dream weaver.

Thanks for the info. on Gap.

If I can be of any help PM me.

I hope RSE can sort you out. If you need any spares my donor car should be on its way soon !

If any mods or clubvr4 committee members are reading this, RSE are keen to advertise on here. Please call Andy or Tina on 01492 592888.

They do specialise in Evos but are happy to talk to owners of any Jap performance cars.
