My car that I imported (finally) arrived on Saturday. As a pleasant suprise it is quite heavily modified. It has:

Fully adjustable suspension
aftermarket external waste-gate
HKS air filter
Ralli-art exhaust
Turbo timer

Well that is all that I have found so far. All and all, not bad for under $9k.

Well I should go and use some petrol!

There are heaps of Legnums, not too many VR 4s though. They are becoming more common. If i had to guess I would say there were a dozen VR4's seems to be a new one on the road each day though.

Someone in a Nissan Terrano tried to race me today...didn't need the turbos for that race!

Will locate some pics and post them.

Here are the pics from the auction...complete with geniuine Tokyo smog all over it. It tidied up well though. Didn't really want a white one, but he market was a bit thin at the time. Seeing it in the flesh it isn't half bad though. Check out the exhaust.

Are you able to post a bit of a back story on the steps/costs involved and who you dealt with, also anything you would do differently if you were to import a car again?

Steps were quite easy, my dad is a dealer so I used the auction website a lot of the dealers use. They are NZ based but bid on your behalf live at the auction. They handle all of the shipping and paper work. Once it got to NZ all I needed to do was comply it. That was pretty easy, with the suspension being modified and adjustable that needed certified. Luckily the exhaust, being Ralli-art, was counted as factory otherwise it could have created some troubles. Costs: Shipping $1175, Compliance $400, Certification $350.
Wouldn't do anything different, certainly would never buy a car from a dealer now though as, of the 20-30 I enquired about only about 5 didn't have any potentially serious problems, under body rust was common as they salt the access roads to the skifields. Who knows how many of these cars you wouldn't import yourself end up on car yards.

No unfortunately the site is not available to the public, but there are other ways of accessing the auctions, that is just one way.

That is a weird question, no the Jap plates are taken off before it leaves japan
