Now this is totally O/T !!!

A Stimson Minibug (ever heard of it ?) which is a fibreglass body on a steel chassis bolted to a mini front subframe.

Originally designed by mad kit car genius Barry Stimson, this one is the first one made by Mini Motors of Bolton after Stimson went bankrupt (or something) - hence it is chassis number MM-001.

Neither Stimson and MM made many of these things so its a rare old thing.

Basically its a seventies design, there are no doors and no roof, you just jump in and out. Has a very substantial rollbar and a vinyl cover for when you get fed up with people looking at you !

Fitted with a 1100cc engine tuned to Cooper spec. with twin SUs etc., its only 55BHP but as its so light thats no real problem. You can spin the front wheels in any gear and as the rear is so light, you can slide the arse out no problem !

Fitted with dinky 10 inch alloys over Cooper S discs.

It is great fun, real bugs in your teeth biggles style motoring, and guaranteed to get you noticed. If you stopped at traffic lights in this thing, you would get girlies jumping in just to be seen in it. It is utterly barking mad !

Has a long MOT and ready to go but the SUs were tuned to pass the MOT so a bit sluggish until they get richened up.

PM or email for more details and price.

Here are some links about them. Looking for it in Google words like nutter, lunatic and insanity keep popping up - I wonder why ?

That looks cool. Could it be used for a daily commute of around 40 miles a day? cheaply.

oh yes !!!

if you don't mind a fast and noisy ride......

And people staring at you :smug:

Its not the most comfy of cars but the PO and his wife took it to the south of france and back.

Hood is a bit absic and makes it look a bit weird - keeps rain out OK though. But if it gets wet, its like a baot - take the carpets out and pull the plug out !

Just been MOTed and the carbs have been leaned off to get it through. So its a bit hard to get tickover after cold start but once its going.....

Should have been able to post some photos at the weekend but BT bolloxed up my phone lines.

What do you reckon it does fuel economy wise?

What sort of price would you be looking for?

What do you reckon it does fuel economy wise?

To get the best fuel economy it would be best to ditch the twin SUs and fit a single HIF38 carb off a late mini 1000 or a metro with a decent inlet manifold.

That would give you 45-50MPG if you drive it carefully. As its a 1100cc engine and a light car even pushing it hard you would get round 35-40.

PMed you the price.
