Triumph TR7 convertible fitted with Rover twin plenum fuel injected V8 engine.

This is not the usual home conversion, a bit of history:

For those that know the TR7, one of the bigger specialists is S&S Preparations in Lancashire.

This is the actual car that was their showroom display for many years, has been featured in Fast Car, Practical Classics ctc. and was on the cover of S&S TR7 brochure.

It is a 1980 car, originally a US spec. LHD convertible that was held back by Triumph/BL as a gearbox testbed car. However as BL were in such a state at the time, it did not get much use, if any, and was sold to a guy in Scotland, from whom S&S bought it.

It was stripped back to a bare shell and sprayed in brilliant Chrome Yellow, with all fittings like door handles also in yellow. No chrome at all on it. Rebuilt with with rear discs, modded/uprated suspension and a Rover K series engine. Fitted with Compomotive split rim alloys, with interior retrimmed iin black leather.

It sat in their showroom for years, only coming out for magazine photoshoots and the like and has a total mileage of less than 5000 miles from new !

I bought it off them about 7 years ago and before delivery had it fitted with a 4.6 litre V8 with Sensible mods plus a twin plenum FI system. With dual single box exhaust it kicks out about 260BHP with that spec. However, the block was not a factory 4.6 but an overbored 3.9 which resulted in porous cylinder liners causing coolant to get into the bores - result white smoke on acceleration.

So I am having it fitted with a 3.5 litre genuine Vitesse engine which is in very good condition, having covered only a few miles since full rebuild. The 4.6 engine will be included in the sale for rebuild.

This is a seriously nice car, with the 4.6 it pulled like a train and sounded brilliant, the 3.5 will reduce the torque a fair bit but will still be a lovely car. Perfect summer car which could be a show car.

Totally unique piece of history, it is a well known car which S&S have tried to buy back off me a few times.

Real headturner, as it is not badged no one knows what it is unless they know about classic cars, and most think its a Ferrari.

Low, low miles and a properly engineered conversion. Lovely to drive. Heritage certificate to prove provenance and current V5C. It is SORNed at present.

£12,000 or will exchange for very good Evo 6.

Sorry for poor picture quality.
