Has anybody changed the front wheel bearings on Facelift models.
Mine's groaning at speed. Every car i've had the nsf wheel bearing has had to be replaced, (just love going round corners...Fast!!).
Know Mitsui' recommend to change the whole hub unit, but why replace it with another inferior bearing.
So has anyone out there replaced the actual wheel bearing?
Got a spare hub in bits, just need to remove bearing from its carrier! :inquisiti

This came up a couple of months ago. Everbody wants someone to try replacing just the bearing, because so far everybody who has done the job has changed the whole hub!!

You could be the guinea pig? :inquisiti

Bearing number for the V6 hub is Koyo DACF1092A. I believe wirdy was looking into this, but i havent heard any more from him.
Are the hubs the same apart from the number of studs??

After a bit of searching around was gobsmacked to find a replacement Front Wheel Bearing kit without going anywhere near a Mitsui' Garage.
FOR ALL YOUR INFORMATION-
Bearing kit no. is PWK0051.
Produced by Premier (name), Sold by Company
BRT BEARINGS. Specialists in Automotive bearings and Transmission bearings.
Address-
BRT Bearings Ltd,
Common Bank Ind' Estate,
Ackhurst Rd,
Chorley.
Lancashire.
UK.

Tel no. 01257 264266.

Ask for a nice man called Tom Wilson. He was very helpful and will mail order bearings to anywhere.

As for the price its half price of Mitsui's
£75.95 + the Vat. For a Kit?
What you get is a Twin roller bearing (Koyo make),
the outer Bearing housing which has the 4 bolt holes in it.
And a "SPLITPIN" woopdidoo!.

Hope this will help you all out.
Now... all i've got to do is fit the Bloody thing! :rolleyes4 .
Also for your info' the kit is for the Hyundi Coupe, They give up quite alot on this car. :embarasse . Says alot for Japanese Bearings /wall
I did try and source a better quility bearing to replace the Koyo but to no avail. :embarasse .

PSB,Number is as P Beazers above, Me thinks you might struggle getting the outer race of the bearing as it is all one piece of cast (then machined) to fit the strut leg, ie its made to measure.
But good luck anyway, Keep us informed.
I'l try and put up some pics of the split bearing if anyone can help :rolleyes4 .
Even better i'll bring a nacked one down to THE POD so you can have a feel as well!!!!! :dizzy2: :stars:
Cheers,
Al.

Just to semi-resurrect this thread in light of my weekends' exploits
does anyone know where I could also source a driveshaft... I am in liaison with our number one parts man  but was wondering if anyone knew of any manufacturers providing VR4 compat driveshafts...

As many of the Mitsu mechanicals are shared between FTO Galant EVO... can anyone confirm whether the driveshafts are the same, or whether there are any non-mitsu alternatives?

Any help would be greatly appreciated /yes

Thanks folks!

(Jake you may not want to be reading this after the huge hole in your pocket caused by mitsu :( stil reeling..*coff* sorry impressed by your G-Tech time BTW :D )

lol Pezza, had the 2nd bearing replaced today, it was horribly expensive at 826 for the pair, but, it is so nice to drive in a car that does not groan all the time :)

I think it would be worthwhile - if we can save several quid in the process for new ones it always a good idea :D

as most may be aware the evo driveshaft is incorrect for our cv but is a full evo drive shaft a possibility joints and shaft ( mitsi sell the full assemble no CV joint on its own and 6 weeks at about £400 each)
