View Full Version : WTD: Suzuki Cappuccino or Honda Beat

The recent debacle with Ariadne has really brought home how much we depend on our car and how stuffed we are when it's out of service.

To that end, we have agreed to bring forward the plans to purchase a runabout car for Alex. To be honest, it will probably spend most of it's time sat in our garage keeping Pap-Pap company, but that's by the by.

So... If anyone knows where there's a cheap Honda Beat or Suzuki Cappuccino, please let us know. Doesn't matter if it's a bit tatty. Ideally Sub-£1000 would be good.

By the way. We will consider any car, as long as it's a Honda Beat or a Suzuki Cappuccino. ;)

The capuccino I think you'll be struggling for under £1K, they're like gold dust..

Don't know about the hond beat...

Careful what you say - I might pay you a visit next week /yes

You'll be hard pushed to find one of these cars for less than £1k - what about a Mk 1 MR2 - relatively plentiful (means more parts available and more upgrading potential  ), cheap and ok slightly higher running costs, but more dynamic/faster and you can get a T-Bar in lieu of a cabrio - also a modern classic

Too big for Alex. It'll be her car at the end of the day, so must make sure she's happy with it. Never particularly liked the Mk1 MR2 anyway.

A Faasand Paand (in Eastenders speak) - you'll be lucky.

In saying that, there are a couple of Capuccinos on ebay for a shade under £1K, Honda beats are like Rocking Horse Droppings though.

Good luck.

And cue the laughter as Kieran once again was forced to extract his foot from his mouth....

Irritated by the lack of Beats and Cappucinos knocking about (do these people not know who I am?!?!) I popped onto Ebay and had a nosey.... Alex saw what I was up to and had a quick nosey - she found them agreeable in looks at least.

So off I go to research that then....I honestly think they're a bit big and a liability for a novice driver, but then, the same could be said of my and my Legnum!! :rolleyes4

Any luck then Kieran?

Not yet. We have increased the budget for such a car (You tend only to see really nasty ones for under £1k), but the right one hasn't appeared yet.... We need really to go and see a few to get a 'feel' for them, but we just haven't had the time at the moment (and it's difficult going to see one when one's car is kaput! :embarasse )

Budget is up to £2.5K.

Car? Decided to stick with original hunch, and after eliminating the Beat (rarity and parts worries) that leaves the Cappo.

Kieran, a friend of mine has just purchased a Cappo, a red one a week ago to have fun in. Since he has a MX-5 as well, he's going to sell one of them soon. I recall him saying that more than likely he's going to keep the MX-5 and sell the Cappo... do you want me find out more? The car drives beautifully and has all the receipts with service history. Let me know mate.

/Hmmm have you had a look at part's: price's for the Cappo, i nearly bought a Vitara "wide-boy" for a runabout for Jacque, till i looked at some price's for up-keep and running cost's /pan :embarasse ...needless to say i didn't buy it.
i'd think as it's going to be a second car you'd be best keeping it a small common type car, cheaper on the long run??
you don't want the two car's being rare type's /Hmmm .. at least that way if you have bother from them both at the one time you know you can atleast get one sorted and back on the road quick! /yes
