Anyone have any experience or opinion of the Evo-style bonnets in the first pic? Trying to decide whether they have any performance benefit INSERT INTO post VALUES (e.g. cooler engine bay); or if they'd give more problems because of our INSERT INTO post VALUES (usually) wetter weather. Definitely think they give a more aggresive look, but can't decide whether that's a good thing or not ;) because I quite like the Q-car image of the standardINSERT INTO post VALUES (ish) car.

couple things..

I dont like the evo bonnet, i think its too mcuh. you only realy want air getting into the induction kit, so if you want grooves, best getting on done above where the induction kit.

i think the "q car" is a good approach, but i think the vr4 looks really agresive from the front as standard. so a little bit more anger in the bonnet department would'nt go amis for me.
found that galantspeed
http://www.galantspeed.com/modules.php?name=Sections&op=viewarticle&artid=7
can do it for $470 INSERT INTO post VALUES (£399) dont know about shipping from the states though?
its carbon so theres is a wieght saving and any decrease in under bonnet temp has to be good?
would having the vent at the top increase air flow through the rad/ intercooler?

The whole reason why I went for the VR-4 was because you don't see many if any about, not even the normal Galants, at least down here, and it isn't ostentatious in the slightest
I also like the fact it is almost a sheep in wolves clothing, although the HKS zorst you can hear from 2 counties away is a slight give away.:p

I'd love to have some kind of vent to help cool the inlet feed to my induction but for the sake of ruining the look of the car I'm not gonna risk it.
And although the carbon fibre bonnet may reduce weight it looks hideous.

Well I got the 6a12TT from the 7g VR-4 :) Had the manifolds and heads ported and polished, and the internals ceramic coated.

I drive a 7g galant not and 8g:) But seeing that this is the only cool VR-4 site around i'll try my luck here hahaha! :)

As for the "anodized" manifold and valve covers, I just used sikkens paint :) The paint seems to hold up well.

Going into Quarry corner at 70mph with only 1 bar on the AYC only ment one thing!............through the remainder of the long right bend on all 3 bars! AYC worked overtime....best in the wet!:)

Nice car Simon, is it still standard?

Totally original......BUT NOT FOR LONG. The exhaust has holes in it...sounds good but is getting worse. Ive ordered a HKS Super Dragger and HKS Super Power Flow....hopefully will be fitted for Jap Fest.....Gone through Norris Designs...Very Helpful. :)

SNAP! I have those bits too.

Are you fitting the filter yourself? mine was already done by Ralliart for the previous owner, but I'm not happy with how they left the filter that close to the engine soaking up all the heat.

I'm looking into relocating the filter with an extension pipe.

I'll keep my eyes open.....always all over Swindon INSERT INTO post VALUES (place of work):thumb:

Re: above, the problem with the position of the air filter soo close to the engine. I'll see if Norris Designs have any ideas...or extension pipe!

Simon

Did you see my thread about the HKS Super Drager in the Performance Modifications section called "This is NOT correct right ???" ? I was looking at getting one too. When you get it please can you confirm it fitted with no problems and what was the part number you ordered ?

Cheers

Pete

What kind of cars do you race against ?

Anything really!. The track days i go to have mixed classes. Road cars on the track with race spec cars. The best ive been on track with are Jaguar classic E-Types and Ford GT40's to your normal Evo's etc.....The problem is that you can take a new fast road car around a track and easily be beaten by a striped out 10 year old road car with half the horse power but weighs hardly anything....always embarassing.

P.S i didn't take the photograph....a professional did...i was driving the car!...although i would like to take the credit for it.:boing1: :boing1:
