Hi all, as I have not sent in my hard earned (thats debateable :) ), and, not having access to the members area, I would like to ask a question of those who have made up a custom exhaust.

I had a look under the car this morning, and, the standard exhaust routing is horrendous and just looks so restrictive, particularly the 2 90 degree bends just before the backbox.

When you make up the exhaust, do you route it the same way, just using 3" stainless, or, have you routed it a little straighter?

I have a Trust exhaust that is pretty much straight that I would like to try to put on, but, don't want to waste my time :).

Cheers in advance.

J.

What you need is a BDA side-exit.

:evil2:

BDA is one of our more well known members, has done a bit of welding in the past.....

Ask him!

So, Dave, are you still in the custom exhaust biz???, I see you went with 2.5" any reason for this insteaf of 3" ???

Because I could get 3" bends!

I wouldn't really make a whole system for anyone.....I am too expensive ;)

My exhaust cost about £450 - more than to get somewhere like Powerflow to do it.

Trouble with 3" is that its pointless unless you get bigger outlets on the turbos. They are tiny and just dont warrant it!

450 quid is very reasonable if you ask me mate, I paid 1150 for the Trust system on the Skyline, besides, will Powerflow do a side exit?, are they legal ocifer??? :)

besides, you know a wee bit more about the car than Powerflow, and, with my penchant for the drag strip a little brain picking would be on the cards :)

No... they are crap, dont use them!!!! Ive replaced most of the echaust they did for me as it was too restrictive and they havn't got a clue about performance or sound levels.

If your in lincoln give TopGear tyres in Doncaster a ring they are just off the A1, a powerflow dealer that will do a top job. I was there for about 5 hrs until they got it exactly how I wanted and still charged me what they had quoted even though they were expecting it to only take an hour or so.

Yeah and thats probably why your not running 12.3`s at pod !!

Sound and looks has got nothing at all to do with how good an exhaust is for performance

how about Fujitsubo exhausts from Japan. these are made and tested for the VR4 unlike custom jobbies that they just weld a coulpe of cans on a piece pipe and might even lose power?

Fujitsubo is a very well known exhaust tuner in the far east and their wokmanship is just amazing and it will definately give you gains.
