Crikey! National Auto Club quoted me $2700!!
The whole insurance thing really piddles me off eh... there doesn't seem to be any consistency between companies, or within companies for different people.

I'm paying about $1100 with Tower (I'm 26 with no driving convictions) and that's the best I found by several hundred bucks.
The dude I spoke to at Tower said there'd been a hike in insurance premiums across the board in the last 6 months... presumably to do with global terrorism etc...

Get a decent insurance broker - they should be able to find you a good deal. I'm paying $870 (or something like that) for full cover, under 25, full no-claims bonus. And that should drop when I turn 25 later this month.

I just remembered, we tried to get insurance for the other half but they said he would be a couple a grand, or 2 and a half a year. We decided to give that one a miss! Under 25, and all the rest.

I'm with State Insurance, drive a modded 1998 VR-4 Manual.

I've had my full license for 8 years, but I've lost my license twice for speeding.

I'm paying $500 a year ($40 a month or something like that) for full cover, under 25, full no-claims bonus.

I'm with Norwich I'm insured for $17,000, full cover. I pay $16.03 a fortnight, which works out to be $416.78 a year. But I am a female, fill no claims bonus, over 25 years, but on restricted and I have everything else with them (package deal).

Hope this helps Scott!

Jeez, I can't believe the double standards of these insurance companies!

Dreamer - $500 for full insurance under 25..? Both my wife and I are over 26 and we pay more than twice that!

I gotta get to the bottom of this - I did a ring around a month ago and it seemed then that I was getting a good deal! :inquisiti

Nothing against those of you who have gotten a good deal of course... good on you for finding one.

Jaimz, for the past 7-8 years, I've had atleast 2 cars concurrently insured with State. (at one stage I had 5 cars). State originally quoted me $3,500 a year /help for Full Insurance, because of my age, and my license history. So I asked to speak to the manager, and told her how much $$ in total I had spent on Insurance with State, the fact I've NEVER (touch wood) had an accident when I was at fault, and She (The Manager) quickly lowered the Premium to $2,500, but I was persistant - trying my luck, and got her down to $500 a year. /pan

:smug:

What have you got to loose? I wasn't being rude, just stating (excuse the pun) the facts.

Wow good on you.
You're right though - until now I haven't tried to push much past the initial quote. Unfortunately I did have one minor prang about 3 years ago which was my fault, so I may not be in such a good bargaining position... :embarasse

I think an insurance broker might be a good way for me to go, either that or I'll pay a visit to Tower with a pair of pliers and a blowtorch... /yes

Thanks Dreamer.
