Hey fellow VR4 fans,

I have a 1996 Galant Vr4,
I was told that the diffs go at 100,000km/s.

Is this true? my car is fully factory, runs like a dream, ive had no problems with it, only 69000km/s on the clock, what am i in for? drop me a few warnings in whats gonna blow, or how to prevent it.

Cheers, M4DVR4.

Mint as man, its good to hear from someone thats into the VR4.
Me and my friend both have VR4s, and we wouldnt rather have any other car, we go to town in Christchruch New Zealand every friday night, and just hunt for drag races, we totally wasted a GT Subaru Legacy the other night, but we still get eaten by Evo's. What is with those evos. How the hell are they so fast off the mark? they are only 2.0 turbo 4 cylinder, nothing compared to a VR4, my best guess is the gearbox, But on the open road, no Evo is a match for a VR4, but bloody hell, these VR4s use alot of gas, this is my first car, I'm a bit of a boy racer, so i had to have a performance car as my first car, lol. I wan't to join this club, but i dont want to have to pay lol, i spend enough money as it is, just on my car, me and my mate are so crazy about VR4's, we were thinking about getting the VR4 badge tattoo-d on our arms. Lol. I wish there was a VR4 meetup in the south island of New Zealand, all the good stuff happens up north.
I would love to hear some feedback on you guys cars, just send me some PMs bout ur cars, pics, mods, the cars you have drilled in drag races, all that kind of stuff.

Jarrett - Glad to be part of the community.

There are several VR-4s over 100,000 miles within the club now, and no failures caused by mileage yet. The only problem you do get is the AYC unit has a pressure switch that can corrode and fail - (the AYC fluid eventually errodes it). An uprated pressure switch is available from Roger Rally on the MLR (I think) and is a fairly easy job to fit.

Hah, Frankenstien looks like its got some real weight reduction.

I want to get some 17" light-weight alloys for my Galant, but they are far too expensive, I can hardly afford petrol for my car at the moment.

Does anyone know why VR4s are such gas-o-holics?

They just have a 2500cc V4 motor, with two small turbos.
My car has a higher gas usage than a 5600cc V8 car.
And im not boosting it all the time.

Basicly, i have two questions lol.

Why do Vr4's use so much petrol?
and..
Whats the factory setting for the pounds of boost VR4's run? my guess is 7.

I am planning to fully flush mine every two years and change the fluid every 1 year.
