just noticed this tonight - in 5th at 2500rpm, depress the accelorater (sp) and the revs go up rising approx 50oprm before settling - this last approx 1 or 2 secs

i also tried the following - 5th gear at 30mph uphill - floor it and it just gently accellerates - if it was clutch slip i would have thought it would do as above but rev out more under load...

anyone else had this or know what it is?

oh just incase FYI its a V6 manual

have you tried the good ole fash'n way? :rolleyes4 ....handbrake on (as tight as it'll let you) stick it in 2nd, try pull away and see if it stall's? or maybe it's just the damp (soaking) weather getting to your box/clutch...any funny smell's /Hmmm

ended up costing £290 - the first clutch was wrong type, then they got a mitsubishi one for £135 - god knows how they managed that!, £20 for oil and the rest labour + vat - just over £100

absolutely, also fresh oil has made the gear change from 2nd to 3rd (when cold) a lot smoother.

I asked to see the old clutch - it still had a bit of life left in it, but it was marked where the friction material had gunged up/melted and was causing the slippage.
