Okay, as some of you know I hopefully cured my long standing wheel wobble at 80 issue this weekend when Richie was kind enough to let me borrow his old BBS 16"ers.

Now of course it means time to spend some cash and purchase some new ones. Deal I have provisionally lined up is this :

4 x TSW "Rib" 17" alloys
4 x Goodyear Eagle F1's 225/45/17 tyres
4 x locking wheel nuts

All fitted and balanced for £820.00 all in ! Good deal ?What do you think and do you think these look ok for the VR4 ?

No money has parted hands yet so would appreciate comments

Cheers

Pete

look good to me also, but beware !!!!!!!!!!!! this type of wheel protrudes further out from the tyre, so not only the rim is susceptable to damage, but also the wheel itself. I found that out to my cost. :Cry1: dont go anywhere near a kerb !!! even the smallest will damage your rims.

I know mate - it's a risk I may have to take I suppose.

I liked these because the only came out a month or so ago so not many around and they are the first wheels TSW have done in this "hyper silver" finish:

Quote from their site:

" TSW have introduced many new designs during 2003 and the latest addition, to add to its current contemporary range, is the Rib wheel.

This is a robust looking six spoker, with a raised fin protruding from the centre of each spoke. The Rib is the first wheel in the TSW range to be given a hyper silver finish, a brand new and highly reflective paint coating. "

slight problem going from 17" to 18". :Cry1: the price hike !!! might be £850 for 17's. but expect to pay at least £1200 for 18". but you only live once ????

But, I know you love performance ! You need lightweight forged wheels...no wobbling with these ! Oz Racing Super Leggera...only 15 lbs I think.
17" x 7.5" would be perfect for the Goodyear Eagle F1's 225/45/17 tyres.
BBS have good forged lightweight wheels also.

The Superleggera's were my original choice but there are none available in the UK until next year INSERT INTO post VALUES (approx April) so I have been told :Cry1: :Cry1: :Cry1:

They are also standard fit on Scoobies.. not that there is anything wrong with Scoobies!!! ;) *ahem, glances around room* :D

They look good Pete, but if you can see less alloy wheel you can see more of your brakes, and since we have pretty small brakes...

......but can you suggest an alternative mate ?

Have you looked through car mags like *ahem* FastCar etc?

Spirit

Yeah - just all a bit confusing really as most don't tell you if they are available to fit our size. Pain in the ass to keep ringing to check each time.

Cannot remember name of wheel but looks really good

If you want details Pete I can get phone numbers for wheel manufacturer

Cheers Chris but I am on the phone ringing people right now. I have found two sets os Superleggera's in stock - just got to decide now on either Goodyear Eagle F1's or Yokohama AVS-Sport tyres - any preferences out there ?

You might want to pop along to Halfords *cough*

As my local store has some nice alloys including OZ

Spirit

Go for the Yokos - I've had loads of different tyres, including the AVS Sports and Goodyear F1's - the AVS's are my all time favourite.

The TSW are very nice, but you cant go wrong with a classic style like the OZs you chose :)

Spirit
09-09-2003, 10:46 PM
Yeah Interlec I had no intention of fitting them myself anyhow mate.

/select lazy barsteward mode

Japmetal, wanted these as I do love the design, the build quality is superb and they only weigh 6.9kg !!!!

Anyone seen the Blitz alloys ? Damn nice but start at over £400 per wheel

Brind

OZ wheels really are superb quality! the Super Leggeras are one of the better styles too, that and the Racing Cup wheels I think they're called, seen similer wheels by OZ with different model names. :)

Spirit

Yeah looked for the Racing Cup ones as well Mark but no bloody chance was the message I was getting !
