Who wants to do a Donington Track day on Thursday December 29th?

Advance booking is only £99.00.

I know Derek will want to come ........... as it's UNSILENCED !

And I know Jimbo may be interested as there's half a chance he will read this thread as it's a good 5 weeks until the event.

Who else?

INTERESTED SO FAR:

Physician - BOOKED
SGHOM - BOOKED
BDA
Kieran
Heath - BOOKED
Wouter (assume passenger/co-driver with SGHOM?)

If it is the same format as the one we have just done last Sunday then it's done in sessions. Not as good, but not as bad as I thought it may be.

I don't understand Jane ........

It was my understanding that YOU drag Heath along to these events so that you can do some photography ....... whilst poor ole Heath has to suffer driving around a circuit for something to do.

Or did I misunderstand? :embarasse

Noise restrictions next to a busy airport seem a little bit odd to me! Are they sure it was Derek that recorded 496dB and not the passing 767?

Yep! The instructor giving the pre-track briefing mentioned that exact point mockingly.

He also mentioned that it is due to complaints from a woman about the noise from a racing circuit that has only been there for two years ........ oh, no, sorry, the woman has lived there for two years. (If anyone wants her address - see me after the briefing!)

He went on to explain that it is, in fact, very serious. The track noise monitoring equipment is linked to a computer system that downloads the noise levels to a council computer for daily checking. If they get into trouble again it's a £25,000 fine. If they get into even more trouble the council have threatened to make it a max 92 db. Which will effectively stop all racing and track days completely.

Right, mine is all booked and paid for

When you call, press zero to speak to an operator and then ask for Caroline or Diane in bookings.

I have put myself into intermediate category so would be cool if we all book into that.

There are slots left, but she said it's advisable to book asap. At the moment it is in sessions, however if the numbers are down then they may either make it an open pit lane or just have two groups instead of three.

The weather problem as I see it is:

Looks like we may get snow on wednesday (but not much) ....... but temperatures are very low wednesday night and thursday and therefore the track may be icy most of thursday. If this is the case they will not allow us on track ........ we will get our money back.

It's anyone's call and unfortunately we won't know how bad it is until the thursday morning. We can always have breakfast and if it looks bad just turn our chairs around in the restaurant and order drinks from the bar instead :chugchug: :embarasse as they are next to each other :smug:

Get a ferry booked SHARPISH, Derek!

You ought to get away with it at the ring providing you don't floor it away from the cones....get out of earshot of the marshals before you give it the beans, (which granted for you may be a couple of miles or so!).

Not aware of any sound capture around the circuit, so providing you can get away with pretending it's reasonably quiet on idle (we could always push your car through the barriers ;)) then you may be ok. From what we've heard, the marshals only seem to do sound checks on occasion and even then it's just to appease the locals who are QUITE RIGHTLY outranged at suffering loud noises having moved next to a race track built 75 years ago.

When the marshals do notice a car/bike/helicopter sounding somewhat rocket powered as it takes-off towards the bridge then they apparently make a note of it and do a sound test on you when you get back from the lap....but your car is rather inconspicuous, so again, you might be ok. :joker:
