How would a stock automatic 1999 Legnum VR-4 Type-S go against a 1996 Toyota Celica GT-FOUR ST-205 (5 speed manual), both on the highway and from a standing start? Street racing is very stupid I know, but a guy at work was hassling me today and bet me $100 his car would beat mine anywhere and anytime. After consulting google I think me might be right, but what have you guys seen in practice?

This has been discussed a wee bit before, do a search for Celica GT4.

See here (http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=4770&highlight=Celica+GT4) to start with though.

My brother has a jap spec ST205 (255bhp standard) with HKS pod filter and HKS Hypermuffler Full system.

When my VR4 (5spd manual) was stock and we compared straight line acceleration he was glued on my bumper with both of us on WOT. He could'nt gain but I could'nt get away.

Since I got the AVC-R tuned to .9 bar and did some other small induction/exhasut mods on the same road the VR4 will slowly but surely pull away from him much to his displeasure :smug: .

and since I got the Tein coilovers(+AYC) I can take him on the twisties too...(maybe I'm just more reckless? /Steeringw /Hmmm )

I think it will be closer than your friend thinks. He certainly will be in for a shock.
