Thanks again  Strangebat for the pics dont know what I will do when you update your site. /Hmmm How's the Legnum shaping up any mods yet?

£500 is a little low I have been offered more, but if anyone out there could muster up a GRAND I would sell.

I would love to donate to the race but just can't afford anything at the moment.

Cheers for spreading the word hope someone out there is listening.

I offered more than that for the car a few months ago, and that was when it had no MOT!
Unfortunatly Tony took a while to get back to me and I bought another car the day before he called.

Someone buy this car, its the bargain of the year!

Dunno if this has sold yet , but I paid a lot more than that for mine and I've spent a bundle on it since.
The one I bought was an aborted sale on fleabay at £2600.
I don't quite know what you could compare it with , but at 1500 kg and 240bhp I challenge you to find a Imprezza/FTO/VR4 for anywhere near that money.
It's easy to work out the price of a UK car , but much more difficult on an import as uncommon as these.

What do you think I am - STOOPID (don't answer that !!!!!) - I am very tempted, but the car really needs some serious brakes on it to make it a track machine /yes - one set of KAD's in the household is quite enough /Hmmm

The post about Tony's car is for someone interested at work - so fingers crossed for Tony - just waiting to here back from them later today

Goodo..

Well indeed... fingers crossed.

Never driven or been driven in a 7G. Always liked that hatch look and the front esp.

Do they share that high-revvy-racing-tone engine as the FTO V6's? Weigh much less than the 8?.

Modding the 6 and 7Gs seem to yield bigger gains from stock than the 8G or is it just me? :inquisiti

Good luck with the sale Tony!

In a word...yes (Not this though, was just curious). Decided I should stop making excuses and get on with it. TBH, we could quite easily afford to buy and run a VR4 as long as it's a well looked after one, I just begrudge losing money on the bus.

As you know, that's what we're about to do. Get a sooopa-cheap runabout that does about 8 million to the Gallon, and then save the VR-4 for sunday best. It's the only way to truly appreciate and enjoy the car. Great thinking Batman. /yes

Yeah, Kate was talking about it to Alex today, we crunched the numbers when we got home and it does make sense. In fact it's done us some good, we realised how much money we spend on booze, and nights out (approx £800PM!) So if we spend less of that on rubbish and more of it on a car or two then hey presto.

If i do manage to source and fund VR4 then you've missed your chance on that high quality Toyota my dads got...cus i'm avin' it.

Your not the only one tempted.. (I am thinking of a way too LOL..) I bet this thing flies and still luv the look of the 7G.. Its a true sleeper esp compared to 8G

Good luck with the scheme Ian.. Just think how much tinkering you could do with this... I get the impression there is more scope to mod these too... More room in the engine bay for starters!

I'm tempted by this as well, as a cheap intro to VR4-ing.

I've PM'd zedy to make sure he does parts for this generation as well, but I was most concernted with the looks. Basically, I think the off-road style kit on it looks silly, and I'd like to remove the bull-bar, swap the front and rear bumpers for plain jane items, and remove the roof rails too (unless they offer some aerodynamic benefit, ha-ha). But what about the sides? Are the silver bits just bolt on bodykit which can be removed?

And is all this work simply a case of bolt-off, bolt-on? Or am I looking at welding/chopping/hacking ~ I ain't so good at that.

Regards,
G

I'm not a fan of the looks either, but that in itself is appealing, your gonna have this uber quick car that looks pants  but it doesn't matter for a grand.

Sigh... it must be Karma or summink. You buy a new car. You have to plan insurance. You have to budget for the extra expense. And then before you can even pick it up, some FECKIN' IDIOT drives into the side of you. So my Escort now has a decent-sized dent in the OSR door. I've had it all of three months.

I'm going to have to call up Admiral tonight and say "hello, I'd like to insure another car, and while you're at it can I make a claim as well?" How's that going to look?

God, it's ironic ~ I'm not superstitious at all, but I was browsing these forums last night and noticed my post count. "Ooooh, 13," I thought, "unlucky for some." Aaaaaaaaargh!

Escorts are ten a penny, check to see how much it would cost to repair before you make a claim. You claim history will stay with you for 3-5 years.

TRUE /yes
might be cheaper paying to fix than what your excess cost's? or even try ebay or breaker's yard's for your escort door?... what year, colour & model is it?

also see if your insurance do a special deal on insureing 2 car's, i have a good deal from MORE THAN for both my car's (they use my NCB for both )

gdelargy
26-01-2006, 10:10 PM
Oooh, I'm even cheerier now.

The damage is only to the rear door, and the car itself is a 99T Escort with 101k on it ~ worth £1000 if I'm lucky. Pretty settled that I wouldn't make an insurance claim unless the other guy tried to play silly buggers; I'd hunt for a price for a replacement door from a breaker, and then tell him to pony up the cash. He was in a K-plate Escort, so he probably wants insurance companies involved even less than I do.

Now I come home, and I've lost his contact details. I'd written them in the back page of a little street atlas I keep in my car, and it's vanished.
/Hissy

Anyhoooo.....

On the subject of insurance, I'm currently with Admiral, but having phoned them today, they WON'T cover this 7G Galant, since it's "not on their list of imports". They tried to connect me to an associate company, but that was just an exercise in being passed around from one dizzy bint to another, so...

...I called up Lifesure. They gave me a reasonable-ish quote, and were nice'n'helpful on the line. However, I can't yet claim the club discount, as my membership hasn't been processed yet (I only sent Spirit my PayPal subs and personal details on Tuesday).

Anyone have any help they could offer me in this regard? I've really paid, honest, guv. Membership pack's in the post, or will be soon. I really am joining. Pwease help. Pwease? Pwetty pwease?

regards,
G

Back home in one piece last night. Oooh, that was a bit of a marathon - Glasgow to Wales to Carlisle on Sunday (9am-7pm), Carlise to Glasgow on Monday night. The latter journey was done in consistent heavy fog and sub-zero temperatures. Not pleasant.

I paid the girlfriend's petrol in return for her chauffeur duties, so the oil companies love me now. Still, thanks to low speed cruising (90-110km/h), I managed 33.1mpg in my first 500km, which makes it more economical than my old '89 Celica Turbo GT4 under the same grossly restrained conditions.

I expect not to repeat that feat for a long time...

Regards,
G

PS expect many, many more posts from me over the next while. I'll get my £20 worth, don't you worry about that.
