Earl (http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/member.php?u=1153) has confirmed the dates for his visit to these shores. You might remember from Earls thread (http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showpost.php?p=109040&postcount=1) that he's on holiday in Frankfurt at the moment and will be making a special trip over to the midlands - JUST TO MEET UP WITH US!

Earl arrives on Thursday 5th January and departs on Monday 9th. If we can arrange a meet that weekend I know Earl would be delighted as he's very keen to meet UK members and their cars.

I'm sure we've all over spent at Christmas so I thought this should be a fairly cheap and cheerful meet: Hence it's at mine (pretty much)! Locations are clickable.

DATE: Saturday 7th Jan 2006
TIME: 7pm onwards
VENUE:The Garden House, Hagley Road, Birmingham (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Hagley+Road,+Birmingham,+West+Midlands,+B15&iwloc=A&hl=en).

There are plenty of hotels and B&Bs on Hagley Road, varying prices and varying standards. There might also be extra space at mine - see later in this thread.

DATE: Sunday 8th Jan 2006
TIME:10am onwards
VENUE: Hopwood Park Services J2 M42 (http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?q=Hopwood+Services&ll=52.369039,-1.956110&sll=52.471838,-1.933035&spn=0.118918,0.355511&sspn=0.031213,0.121536&iwloc=B&hl=en)

Once we're bored of looking over the cars on Sunday we'll go for a spin, and if there's the interest we can visit the National Motorcycle Museum, followed by lunch.

Earl is travelling from Frankfurt especially to meet club members so it'd be great if we could have a big attendance for this meet.

Not French cars but you will have to perform a demonstration wash and polish on my VR4 - so that I can polish it just right every time

Sorry I've been caught up with the Christmas celebrations.

YES it's still a goer! I will confirm arrangements tomorrow, but everything is essentially the same, meet Saturday, chinwag, food, possible overnighter in Hotel (if the number aren't great it'll be some at mine and some at Nicks), Sunday - food and depart.

For now reckon on lunch saturday, a look over the cars, visit to a point of interest and then an evening do!

Keep your eyes on this thread!

The details in the first post have been updated, hopefully this should suit everyone and be a bit easier on the wallet.

I'm just popping out for a drink - but will confirm space available at my flat upon my return. If you're wanting to stop in a hotel PM me and I can advise appropriately regarding quality/cost/proximity.

Back soon.

We will definately stop for lunch on Sunday although the timing will be dictated by the hunger of those in attendance.

I'm think once everyone who is expected has arrived and we've got through the introductions and car browsing, we'll go for a bit of a spin ending up at the National Motorcycle Museum. Upto you whether you want to have a wonder around the museum and/or continue scrutinising the cars. Once we're all bored again we'll head to a local pub for lunch (I've got a couple in mind - but if anyone has a favoured pub in the area feel free to suggest it).

Rich - mine before the pub is a good idea. Say anytime after 5? If we leave mine at 6:30 we will be at the pub by 7:00.

Also considering finding out the cost of a taxi so there are no nominated drivers on sat night.

The Redditch-Bham New St train stops at Fiveways station (less than 200m from my flat) - don't know if it would be any cheaper?

Great to see you all again, and to meet up with a few of you for the first time.

Physician > Sorry we didn't see you after the museum, I should have spent more time with you when your TomTom said Shustoke was 13 miles from the NEC 'cos I knew it was only four (including driving back and forth between pubs). Hope you felt the morning was worthwhile.

BDA > Thanks for the last ever BDA Decat pipe. Was very impressed with YoungTobyAkers - wish my seven month old nephew could be relied upon to be that cheerful.

SGHOM > Glad that you're fully recovered and back on the fags again

Earl > No, not those kind of Fags!

DEFINATE (mis)QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Kieran > "Going anal?"
Alex > "Not again!!!"

I must remember to rib you endlessly about your leadership skills!!

Nick Mann > Like all the best leaders - I do it from behind!

I'm sure it wasn't the slickest of meets, but we all met up (four times in total if you include the brief visit to The Griffin), enjoyed good company and good food. I know Earl was really grateful to those that turned up.

Cheers - and God bless America!
