Well I'm trying to buy me a nice VR4 and thanks to your great website have done all the research I need to get the one I want. So I took one for a test drive today....everything in the car is good, its a type S import with all the bells and whistles and seems tidy.

However when I took the car for a test drive the tiptronic would not work at all. It behaved like it was in D and would not respond to any up or down movement. D was working fine, no evidence of slipping or slow changes. I told this to the salesman, and we went for a spin and of course it was working perfectly for him....but this was after the car had been turned off and then started again. They offered to get it checked out, but I don't want ot buy a lemon even tho it'd be under warranty /pan

Has anyone heard of this problem? Is it a major? should I steer clear of this car? /help

yes! it has the mismatched tyres, and this problem as well! I don't think you should buy it, probably too many problems. Do you have a link to the dealers website so we can have a look at the car?

One thing we all should know is not to take a salesman's word for anything, especially if he's trying to sell you something! /pan
...Even under warranty, it's the inconvience of taking it back when you shouldn't have to that will p!ss you off!
If it'll make you more comfortable, tell us where it is and we'll thrash it...errm I mean test drive it...chances are tho, the tip-tronic problem will be temporally solved.
End of the day, if it's a lemon...you could donate it to CVR4NZ Drag/Track Car...wink wink nudge nudge /Steeringw

Uc, are you taking another day off tomorrow, you could always pop past there during the day and trash it, I'm sure your left leg will enjoy driving a car with a proper gearbox ;)

and as such, your left leg will enjoy taking a day off, and it *is* the correct gearbox ;)

Yeah I think I'll steer clear of this one...but geez guys if I buy it today I get a free tv and DVD(woopdeeeeee!) Heres the link to copy and paste.

They got a black manual V-spec for sale too but I think the K's are a bit high perhaps and its not a facelift and no AYC. The search continues.......
