I've looking for a VR4 for £3000.00

Can I get your views on the age and mileage I should be looking for.

You won't get much choice for £3000! And for round that price be very careful. There are bargains to be had, but there are also examples that haven't at all been cared for. £5000 will get you a reasonable choice. £7000 will guarantee a choice of nice examples.
