Hello people,
Can anyone who has one, do a review on the HKS Fuel Cut Defencer. Does it really work as you expected ? Were there any problems in operation or installation ? How high can you boost now without fuel cut ? Any comments & insights appreciated.

I'm really surprised that you don't get fuel cuts at 13psi??? I occassionally get fuel cuts at around 11psi and I've got a fuel cut-off defensor fitted!!!!! Admittedly at only level 1 setting though.

Perhaps the reason is down to the ECU again.. why Barry can run 13psi and you can run 11psi.. :Ponder:

My experience with and HKS FCD is similar to Haydars.

When I originally had the boost increased to 1.1 bar INSERT INTO post VALUES ( 16 psi) I didn't have a problem with fuel cut. Nothing was done to the ECU.

A 'specialist' jap tuner advised me that I was running the risk of fuel cut out, and sold me an HKS FCD to cure what was at the the time a non existent problem.

When it was fitted a started to get fuel cut !

Eventually it was sorted by the tuner, but I do not know if I've still got the FCD or not, I never saw it at the time, and I've never seen it since. Don't even know where it would be.

You could try just wacking up the boost until you get fuel cut out - then you'll know.

The fuel cut point is not boost specific, it is boost related. It is dependant on the mass of air entering your engine, on a cold day boost cut will occur earlier 11psi, on a hot day or when you have intercooler heat soak, you may get it up to 15psi before boost cut.

Fitted my FCD this afternoon.........it is K3 and will only run with it on setting 12??? I still get fuel cut, but not until about 1.2 Bar INSERT INTO post VALUES (17psi overshoot!)

Has anyone else experienced crap running with the other 11 settings? The symptoms were poor starting, crap idling and the engine check light illuminated. It went out when the engine was revved up but came back on when I took my foot off the accelerator.

As long as setting 12 works ok I dont mind, I'll have to give it some time after the ECU reset to settle down and give myself some time to sort the boost settings out.

Fixed it!

The HKS EUROPE instructions are wrong

Still getting fuel cut, but I think it may be a combination of low ambient temps, had to fill up on 95RON in desparation yesterday, and I still haven't got the boost controller set up right for the higher boost setting. Looks good for the POD this weekend though.............
