I know this has been posted a few times before, but what's everyone's thoughts on a club dyno day say end of March-ish?
I'm aware dyno days are not everyone's cup-of-tea, so just wondering how many interested parties there are out there.

bradc

Well you know I would be up for it, my car should have the ecu installed by then. I think Torque performance said we would need about 8 or 10 cars to book the day.

To be honest, nothing much...it's just a good time to meet up and see what our cars have (power wise) at the wheels. Good if you're considering engine upgrades to see what gains get from what.
Cost is approx. $75 per run depending on how many people we get.

bradc
02-01-2006, 10:34 AM
They drive it onto the rollers and give it a couple of runs, then they give you a pretty graph ;)

My 2 graphs are from when I had a 100% stock car, to my car with the exhausts and downpipes on it.

I'll try and arrange something for the end of March/beginning of April....tho I'll probably need confirmed numbers by Mid-End Feb for bookings...and maybe deposits to be on the safe side! ...haha
We'll need approx 10 people, so far we have 3.

I'll be in, as long as it is not much later than EARLY April.

We can talk to Dave tonight at the bbq, and convince him to bring the prelude along, I know he wants to dyno it at some point, so we can probably call it 8.

Thats a good idea too, we might get some other people interested as well.

Osiris, if you see this do you want to invite some of the Chosen Few VR-4 owners to this thread? I know one of them has upgraded their turbos.

Uc, before you make a booking it would be a good idea to collect a 50% non-refundable deposit, too many times I have seen people put up their hands with good intentions only to leave some one out of pocket when it comes time to ante up.

We'll need coupla more confirm runners!

You See
12-01-2006, 07:06 AM
As promised, contacted Torque Performance this arvo. We can still run with the numbers we have, however 10+ is preferred.
Costs are as follows:
$50 (2WD)
$75 (4WD)
$10 (optional) for an Air/Fuel Ratio Check.

To book the day (Saturday) we all need to agree to a certain date...they require approx 3-4 weeks notice, so the earlier we confirm this the better. Speak now or forever hold your peace! :)

Dyno runs will start at approx. 9am to 12pm...tho runners will need to get in earlier to register (I might be able to grab a copy of the registration form to save time...you can pick this up when you pay your deposits /yes)

Have I missed any details? /Hmmm

bradc
12-01-2006, 07:35 AM
Ideally I'd like it to be a little bit later on, my car may or may not be finished by then. I think Uc wants it to be as soon as possible so his car can get started on sooner. I wonder when ABIM's car will be finished.

Uc - we can count on Dave attending, I told him that we may need the Honda to make up the numbers ;)

I was thinking more 25th March...Did anyone else notice that Feb and March are identical (with the obvious 28/31 days exception) :scholar:

bradc
12-01-2006, 08:46 AM
that is because there are only 28 days in Feb which is exactly 4 weeks. For 3 out of 4 years the dates of Feb and March match ;)

You See

And in 2008, Sept and Dec are identical.

i will need a bench mark dyno before the ecu goes in. just all depends on timing.

my car will be running in two weeks un-tuned. probably go to the tuner a month after that... so it might line up.

not going to have full power for a while though...

bradc
20-01-2006, 01:30 AM
they mightn't be able to tune it, but they will be able to give you a graph of your boost curve, and maybe offer advice. If you want it tuned, it might be best to let them know beforehand, so your car is the last to run, and they can spend some time on it.

OSiRiS
20-01-2006, 01:47 AM
I'll need my S-AFC tuned too ;)

I should have a Walbro intank pump by then hopefully.

Would be pointless getting it tuned then putting the pump in after right?

generally the dyno day is not designed as a tune day more a day to see what your car is putting to the ground, FYI.

You never know tho they might give it a tickle for you.

bradc
22-01-2006, 08:07 AM
At the ones I've been to, it was very business like, trying to get the cars on and off as quickly as possible. Maybe when we run we can talk to them more about each of our cars, and get them to fiddle where needed.

I'd definitelty like to go. I am in Wellington, but have been planning a trip to Auckland for a while to see the parents, and a dyno run around March would be a good time. Only thing is could I bring an Impreza for testing? Or would that not be appropriate? :inquisiti My Legnum is stock so there's not a lot of point testing that.

bradc

We would need a confirmed booking first i guess. I'm happy to pay a deposit, and since You See has been driving most of this, i vote for him to discuss something with the committee, or collect the money. It would be ideal if i had a bank account to send a deposit to.

Has there been any word from Torque about the 18th of march?

-Also, i have found that P.C website most useless, i must have emailed them about 20 times to try and get them to add the club address to their links page, 9 times out of 10 i don't even get a response... Maybe someone of importance might want to meet with them in person?

how much is it?? could be good for a laugh to see how gutless my car is.

I think they were talking $75 for 4wd and $50 for two, plus something if you want O2 readings.

Be worth a laugh, iv never seen a dyno run before, so i'm as interested in the process, as the numbers.
