In your opinion, what is a safe way to achieve 300bhp, on a daily driven VR4?

On their way to my house currently are:

TurboTech Manual Boost controller (from ebay)

Walbro 255l Fuel Pump (from flat4online.co.uk)

Apexi EL mechanical Boost Gauge (from nengun.com)

(before ive even got the VR4 /pan )

I already have a SAFCii to adjust fuelling to its optimum (within the SAFE limits!)

With a custom cold air box, and straight through single exhaust, does 300bhp sound realistic?

The car will be daily driven, and 300bhp is my goal in the beginning before any major money is invested.

Safety and Reliability are the key with this project, i genuinly cant afford to melt a piston or destroy a turbo.

Let me know what you guys thinks

are you talking about 300hp at the wheels or engine?

if at the engine, then yeah, your mods + a decent exhaust system should do the trick. probably more than 300hp if you get the safc tune working right.

At the engine, 300-320 should be achievavble if set up right. I agree with ABIM.

Yes ATF figures :)

Im guessing it will run slightly too rich with the walbro, but the SAFC will correct this.

The legnum me and the old man are currently looking at is a 96 though, which as you know has the 260 rather 280 as standard. Does this make a difference with the outcome of my planned mods?

I have searched, but couldnt find a conclusive answer :)

The pre/post facelift ecu doesn't seem to make much difference after tuning. Mechanically the cars are the same, so if you alter the air flow and match the fuelling to it then you pretty much remove any differences between pre and post facelift cars.

Thats exactly what I was after, cheers :chugchug:

Take a look at some of the banter between BDA and SGHOM. BDA's car was 280 off the peg, SGHOM's 260. I think the tuning will make more difference than the original spec of the car.

Bear in mind that it is a couple of years old now!

I would say with those mods you should be looking at 320-330hp without a problem, you are definately doing a good set of first stage mods, these cars run very rich, so the safc is a very good idea.

Cheers, if I break 300 I will be more than happy!!

Ill need to find a tuner that I trust to set up the SAFC for me, but aslong as its running within safe limits ill be chuffed.

Im planning to run the car at 8.5 bar max
