FANTASTIC!!!

You may start the majority of slush box people thinking about getting a decent gearbox.. LOL /grr

Seriously though, what work is being done to the engine and what gearbox are you fitting?

Mike

Nah, mine came from the factory with one - the Japanese owner ticked the 'Don't fit stone-age gearbox' option! /pan /grr

You will tell from his username, that Kev works for AP Motors (based in Plymouth). He gets the benefit of his/their experience and knowledge, use of their equipment etc - but of course they are a business therefore you will pay for the work on this basis and not a private person.......of course I'm sure AP will give you a bit of discount though

I wouldn't expect him to do it for cost or near cost, but can't afford £20K for example...

Kev, you have a PM....

On a more revelant point, I think this has huge potential for us UK peeps, as this will be the 1st time a Galant or Legnum VR-4 owner over here has fiddled with the internals on this scale (or rather, openly tell us that they have and provide details, you know who you are /pan )

Kev..... Ever considered becoming a club member? ;) :deal2:

Kev, it does sound like you've got a very good project there, please keep us updated with pictures as much as possible. Hopefully we'll see 500hp from you!

Impressive list - reminds me of my toy: But get close to 220 bhp per litre and 300+bhp/tonne and my toy may get worried (;))

bradc

That is 550hp, sounds about right to me. :D EVO's can easily have 400hp out of them and be easily street driveable, and 450hp is possible too.

kevin ap motors
16-03-2006, 02:36 AM
The money factor, the room and i have maped 2 cars with similar turbos and on stand engine

550cc injectors
walbro fuel pump
pressure regulator
map ecu
only 16 psi boost
the cars made 450bhp

going on this kind of increase i decided to go for theses turbos but bigger spec

Kevin.. If you are going for the TD04's, does that mean you are going to have modified manifolds to allow a direct fit for the TD04's.. Will these be available to all.. Are your TD04's based on the TD04HL's.. :2thumbsup

Cheers

How much bigger in dimensions are the TD04s. Apart from manifolds, what other piping is required?
WHat ECU changes are likely must be more than just fuelling?

Kevin have all those internals been done yet?

bradc
16-03-2006, 07:20 PM
you would need manifolds as well as the downpipes after the turbos and I assume the oil lines and things like that would need to be changed as well. You would need to do the whole kit as one big bundle

Forged pistons, steel rods, arp bolts... are those really necessary?
Cams? You think stock cams will limit your quest for big power? How much exactly are you aiming for?
If you going to make new manifolds why stick with TD04 turbos?

When I saw Kev earlier in the week he was not a happy bunny - engine and turbos are still not back and he was hoping to have the car running at the end of March ! He is a little p*ssed off with it all at the moment I think, so not surprised he has not been on here with updates. Basically, there are none - just watch this space.
