OK, Ive had the FTO running for 40 mins on the drive to let it warm up (and for anyone who knows whats happened recently thats an achievement in its self) I then took it for a quick BLAST, to really heat it up.

I came back and the radiator is red hot at one side and cold at the other, both pipes are hot, so

a) My endcans are blocked so only half the rad works.
b) The pump cant pump enough water to fully utilise the large rad
c) One of the fans is failing so isn't cooling very well

Which is the most likley? any other suggestions???

Air lock? This can cause what you have described...

Does your heater blow heat OK, doesn't go cold then hot... it's not forced to with airlock but it is a common occurence.

I would take the opportunity to do a rad flush, this will get rid of any crap and air too...

If one fan isn't working then you would be able to tell by leaving it to tick over and seeing whether it kicks in or not..

I would have to vote for either A or air lock myself. Michael might be onto something with your heater, check and see how well that works.

heater appeared fine, dont think there are any airlocks, I think Ive got them all out last time I flushed the rad. I do it about every 3-4 months and its only 12 months old.

Seems weird that they'd cast bleed screws into the N/A version and not the TT though.... I'll have a looky when I've got the engine in bits next... :inquisiti

Can't see them on CAPS - have a look in the service manual (PYDE9604, the one everyone's got) Section 14-10.
