GO!

/yes

We have now got two confirmed track sessions.
Please can everybody who wants it now pay for the second session!
To clarify the session times:
We have got a briefing at 9 for a 10.35 and briefing at 2pm for a 3.01pm

DEADLINE FOR PAYMENTS IS 1ST APRIL 2006

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Last years event was Fekkin Awesome. Wet track in the morning, Dry in the afternoon. Coombe is a cracking circuit and not too difficult to drive safely.

Official website here (http://www.japfest.co.uk).

Costs are now set at:
Track time - £30 per session for members, £35 pounds per session for non-members. We are planning to book two club track sessions and give a £5 discount for anyone who books for both.
Entry tickets are £14 on the gate - We can sell these for £9 to members or £11 to non-members. One per adult is required.
Stand tickets are free when paying for an entry ticket. We have 30 spaces on the stand, the only rule being members get first dibs. Non-members will go on a reserve list and will get stand space only if the members don't fill it up!

Last year we abused the Ibis in Swindon on friday and saturday night - I guess this year we could be doing the same!! I will start a seperate thread for that.

These are the interested parties so far with what I think they want by the names. I have taken a few guesses to fill in the blanks - don't panic if I have got it wrong, just let me know! Lets confirm everything for a week or so and then I'll let you know how to pay. If you have been overlooked or you want to change what I have you down for, then post below or send me a PM.

Seeing as it's the familiar spot, and reasonably easy for late-comers to get a room, I'm inclined to say we stay with the IBIS. Most people know it, and it's got a decent-sized bar! :chugchug: :beerchug: :runkest: :5shots: /Devil5 :beerbang:

STOP!

:stop: /TTTH :end:

We have only got one confirmed track session.

They are trying to get us a second but it is looking unlikely.

Please don't pay for two sessions yet - you may not get the second.

Paying for the event nearly four months early still hasn't got us what we want!!!/pan

Nick, can you put me down for 2 tickets instead of one, suppose I should bring someone, don't wanna look like a loner  Another quick question, first time I've been to Japfest, well, it'll be my first meet/event altogether, people are booking a couple of nights in a hotel, how long is Japfest? I was just gonna drive down, spend the day, and drive home in the evening, should I be booking up somewhere? I'll send payment to Pete at the end of the month.

Last year Japfest recommended Competition Car Insurance, 0115 941 5255.

Quotes are on an individual basis, but I have had a quote of £65 with an x/s of £650 for cover on a car worth £6500.

You really want to be somewhere near the track/pan /pan

But to be sensible, can't remember the name of the corner, but it's the first right hander after the start (almost 180 degrees and there is a spectators area there. Or further back towards the car park if you want higher speeds. Think though the corner mentioned is one of the better places to watch.

Hey good to see you on here mate !

So come on, tell us more about the car :2thumbsup

Attilauk
04-04-2006, 10:04 AM
thanks :D

ok its a Tiger Racing Cat E1 built by Raw Engineering in 2000, its basically a spaceframe chassis with a Sierra IRS Subframe.

its got Spax Coilovers on all 4 corners and (for the moment) Sierra vented discs.

the engine and box were taken from a 1992 Toyota Corolla GTi (same engine as the mk1 mr2) and were rebuilt and blueprinted by Raw. the engine runs a pair of Dellorto 48 DHLA race carbs (the same type TRD used on their N2 Corolla touring cars in the early 90's), a full custom 4-1 exhaust setup and Omex ignition. it makes 140bhp which doesn't sound much but when you consider the car only weighs 600kg it gives it a power to weight ratio of nearly 240 bhp/tonne so its fairly swift :D

i swapped the Supra for it as its far more suited to track driving and im hoping to start sprinting in it in the near future.

here is a better picture of it

Are there facilities to change tyres at Japfest? And would it be possible for me to take a second set of wheels whith me to use to get home?

I've just put new Falken's on for RT3, and I know tyre wear out there will be minimal but I also know I will shag these at Japfest with 2 sessions. I would not be happy going full pelt with partially fooked tyres at Combe, the track is heavy going on tyres. So choices are either new tyres, spare set of wheels/tyres or take it steady

A lot of people take a second set of wheels so they know they have useable rubber to get home. If it is wet, you won't wear the tyres much. If it is dry you will eat them good and proper!!

Depends on the weather. You're absolutely right about Combe being a tyre (and brake if you get Quarry wrong!) killer.

I have faith in my ability as a driver thanks. /Grrr

What I don't have faith in is the fact that I would have to start braking waaaaaaaaaaay early for the corners and my leg would quickly go numb from the juddering of the brake pedal.

Yes I know I need new front discs but they are unlikely to be done before Japfest and plus there is also the money side to consider.

Kevin at AP has now cancelled attending Japfest as his car will not be ready, the engine and turbos are not back yet and there is not eta for them - as you can imagine he is a tad annoyed !

It therefore means his two tickets are still available.

There was already a thread on UJCC weeks ago offering track time - a couple of guys over there are signed up to join us.

The dilema we have now is that the club has slots still left to sell, and track time has been sold at higher prices. This needs a committee decision ?

Nick Mann
10-05-2006, 06:41 PM
Surely if Drexel has registered here he is entitled to buy the track time at non-member prices?

So £35 for one session or £65 for two?

A friend of a friend of a friend works for a well known chain of shops that like to stock their shelves knowing what the weather will be. This is their latest guide to work from:

Dear All

I have received the following from the suppliers of our 14 day weather
forecast. I have not included the attachements which are various maps
showing weather forecasts as Tech Support were concerned about the type
of attachments they were (a bit complicated and I didn't understand).
However I thought it might be useful for you to see their concerns about the
accuracy of the forecast.

Anne

Please note that the confidences have not/will not be high for the
last/next week.

This is due to a complicated synoptic situation.

The U.K.'s weather is being dominated by a series of Atlantic weather
fronts crossing from the W due to complex low pressure remaining in the
Central Atlantic.

This synoptic situation is not only difficult for all forecasters but
also for all meteorological numerical models that we use. All models are
giving differing timings and speed of weather fronts, including the intensity
of rainfall over the U.K. I attach a few examples to give you a flavor of
what is happening meteorologically.

One thing is certain; it will be very unsettled over the next week, and
all our forecasters will endeavor to predict accurately the timings and
intensity of the weather fronts.

Ar$e.

Your tickets are in my glovebox! I took them to silverstone thinking I would catch you there last weekend. I forgot they were there.
When are you planning on going? I can post them when I get home tonight? Or are you coming over early enough on saturady morning to join us for the convoy in from Swindon?

Spirit

Damn right! :D - Gotta love the convoys, We all meeting at IBIS in the morning? for those who arnt staying, and then running a convoy? I cant see anything on first page about it, and what time to meet etc? or are the non IBIS people jsut making their way to Combe themselves?

Spirit
17-05-2006, 06:28 PM
Yeah, the more the merrier at the Ibis, so people who can get there would be great.

I know the UJCC lot are planning to meet at Bristol at 8am, but bearing in mind the time it often takes to get in and we have to set up the stand etc, and we have a briefing at 9am, I would suggest we set off from the Ibis at 7.30am latest ?

BraindG

There's a story about a certain gentleman who had to be woken up at one event by banging on his door for ages - but we won't go there right now :5shots:

Okay!

7:30 leaving from the Ibis. So 7:20 latest at the cars. :2thumbsup

We shouldn't leave it any longer - the morning briefing is at 9, so we may struggle to get there if we leave much later.

Be careful you don't get caught in the queues. I'd aim to get there 7:45-8:00 if I was you, and then you've got some leeway if the roads have started to fill :2thumbsup
