Ok so with the different fuels on offer I decided to start trying them out.

Day 1 in the Bal house and Bal has decided to try optimax -

Car has been flushed once through with the optimax, £47.50 to fill her up at 92.9p/litre. 200 miles completed so far (most motorway but about 40 in town). 1/4 tank left. that means i have averaged 24mpg so far.

ok first tank of optimax finished. with a mixture of town and motorway i got 260miles out of a full tank.

im on my send full tank and so far have got 120 with quarter the tank to go. i must admit this was more town driving and a nice blatt on the a43 between northampton and oxford :)

i shall next be trying tesco 99 ... also to try sainsbury super as its 88.9p down here.

Run a couple of tankfuls through bal - you see, RON numbers do get muddled.Say you chuck 99 octane in a tank that's always had 97... It will take a tank or two to clear all that out (when the two fuels mix, it will not result in 100% 99RON), and the car may adjust it's fuelling pattern, once it detects that it's using fuel that doesn't detonate so easily.

I could be talking Moo-poo, but it's worth a try?

yep i know, that's why im trying 2 or 3 tanks of optimax then i'll clean out with 99 ron for a couple of tanks before i do my test with 99 ron
