I have a farty front pipe (no jokes please). Mitsi want £240 fitted, but I have just googled and happened across this place:

front pipe linky (http://www.autobits.co.uk/store/view_product.php?product=1807)

any thoughts? Is a front pipe a front pipe a front pipe or are there things to be considered?

Many thanks,

Mark.

What's the 3/93-3/97? Can't be the year as they say 2.5 V6?

If it fits then why not? How much do Mitsy want supply only? Don't forget you will need rings/gaskets too.

Think you'll find that's based on a 6A12 v6. There may be slight differences - but not certain

But the 6A12 is 2.0 not 2.5?

yep good point Nick, there was a 2.5 in the 7G but no idea of the code! On the picture though, the mounting in rear of the flexi does look different to the 8G. Mind you, I notice he's got a V6 sport wagon (96) - not sure what that would be like underneath tbh.

just had an email back from them to say that their manufacturer doesn't do a font pipe for my model (2000(X) - 96 is my post count ;) ).

Mitsi only wanted £30 to fit...and I managed to get them to give me a bit of a discount on the part.

My only other thought is whether it's worth biting the bullet and getting a full system put in. Exhaustuk only want an extra £240 to do a full stainless (inc front pipe). Any thoughts/opinions? What would you guys do?

What would you guys do?

Take a look at the condition of the rest of the pipe and decide how long I was keeping the car. Also bear in mind that a custom built could change the sound quite a bit.

I'd get the ExhaustsUK one done if you can afford it.

the rest of the pipe does look OK...and I will be keeping the car for a few years yet.

if I'm honest, I wouldn't mind hearing a little more of that V6 when I gave it some welly ;) It's just quite a sizeable outlay! Especially as I could do with two rear tyres too!!!!

Who said a VR4 was expensive :speechles

With the amount that mitsi want for it, I would just go out and get a proper exhaust system, it isn't much more than the mitsi system with your discount, and you will get more power and performance from it.

ive broken 2 sets of front pipes now, (cars to low and the flexis tend to scrap on bad roads)

think im gonna get something custom and a bit more heavy duty.

I have been reading through some of the other exhaust posts and come across a couple that mention GDS in Northampton (Brackley?)....has anyone ever had work done by them? It's a lot closer to me than Walsall!!!
