Thinking of buying one of these as the new toy to add to my car.

Are these any good? Are they worth the money or should I spend a bit more to get a much better product? Is anyone using one and if so what do they think?

The SBC i Colour you can obtain for around £460 inc P&P in the UK. Or if you get it from Japan around £420 as long as you get it declared as a present to get around the import tax and Vat.

You also need a few additonal sensors to use all the features of the icolour

I've got a Profec B about to go on....but would you reccomend fitting one without compensating the fuelling at the same time?

From what other members have said, it might be a good idea to fit a fuel-cut defender or, if you have the extra cash lying around, something like an e-manage to control your AFR (air-fuel ratio)

Gary - general consensus seems to be that these cars over-fuel so much at WOT that you can crank up the turbos to about 0.9ish bar without altering the fuelling as such. No idea how close to trouble of the detonation kind this is though.....:inquisiti

Col - back to front, mate. I would NOT reccommend a FCD unless you are controlling the fuel well or at least monitoring your mix. I know of one person who suspects that his fcd and lack of monitoring lead to his mixture leaning out and eventually a new engine.

Gary - as Kieran said, many raise boost to around 0.9 bar with standard fuel system and map. You will get a big power increase when you do have it mapped though!

I thought that it turned out that it wasn't due to a leaning out of the mixture but to other issues. As Kieran stated, our cars run very rich but the ECU doesn't know what to do about all the extra air it is getting and cuts the fuel for safety.

Didn't BDA map his AFR with the e-manage and come to the same conclusion?

I would agree that correctly monitoring and setting the AFR is the only proper way of going about it though.
