I know there has been much discussion on the site regarding these and whether they have any benefit or not. But even if there is a minimal gain I think its a nice cheap and easy mod that can be done with minimal effort.

So I say /yes

Edit/ Sorry Richy, my yes is on whether it would be a good idea to start supplying them. Will hopefully have one on its way to me soon.

you could look at making downpipes as well, from the turbos down to the cat.

Can you let me know the price - I have very recently replaced my down pipes (the front bit too just past the flexible coupling I think) so I am only looking for the last 2 sections + De cat – if I adopt this mod I have a couple of questions.

1. How much?
2. Will it comply with MOT tests? i.e. emissions testing in the UK
3. Are they fabricated from stainless steel? (what grade i.e. 306 or 316)
4. Are they easy to fit? (do I require specialist help)
5. Do they include additional fittings? i.e. rubber mounts instructions etc
6. Will I have to modify the rear skirt of the car to fit them?
7. Do you include rear boxes and cat?
8. What size is the final exit of the exhausts? (2” 3” etc)
9. How much for delivery or collection only? (Norfolk)

Sorry for all the questions but I need to know before I commit.

Thanks in advance

do you have a standard zorst then it might pass on admisions

but the mot station should not pas it as your car should have a cat, so it should fail by them seeing there is no cat.

This depends.. ?? As there were no emmision tests ever done for the import VR4. If you get a Letter from the Manufacturer stating there was never any Emmisions Test for the car it, they can't test it. I Think :inquisiti

Everyone is talking about MOTs and whether this will or will not effect it. It will effect the MOT and the car will struggle to pass emissions test without one. But surely you can just put the Cat back on for the MOT test, then swap it back afterwards, its only once a year.

Or am I completely wrong, in which please ignore me, and I will go back to sleep :baby:

Some MOT places aren't aware of this rule though, and they will often aruge the toss. I just put the cat back on - for the sake of 4 bolts I can be doing without the aggro.

Sorry mate, no sale here. Got one already.

As for the MOT checks, it is possible to get imports through without the cat refitted. I'm amazed they don't use the UK car stats as a benchmark?

This might all change with the new style test though, being monitored from start to end of the test.

However, my smog belching diesel passed the new style test last week with no cat fitted, despite me putting it in the passenger seat for them to fit pre-test!

Doing New Bolts up is a Doddle.. :2thumbsup It's getting the Old Feckers OFF First that can be a Pain.. Saying that though, once it's been done once and New Bolts installed and plenty of high temp grease applied, next time should be nice and easy :2thumbsup

The UK cars are still imports. The speedo has been changed from kmh and the foglight is aftermarket. They are just official imports, brought in by Mitsubishi from new. So its very likely the DVLA never treated it as a UK car.

I will check my exhaust tonight, because it is a custom exhaust I will check that they used the origional gaskets when they attached the pipework to the cat, if so I will have one off you.

If you do 10 and i'm sure you'll sell them as people join and/or change their mind.

Derek, the VR4 is now on the list at my local MOT station, so I guessed it was everywhere now - especially with all these new MOT regulations.

Mine failed it's MOT late last year with the standard exhaust and decat, but it was VERY marginal. The inspectors were a very friendly bunch, but I hadn't told them it was decatted so they retested twice before they had to say it was a failure.....and then they spotted the decat....not sure they were impressed!

Sorry its taken so long to get back to you. Everything looks pretty standard from the cat back, so I will definately have one if you are still considering it.

Cheers
