Any advice?

My alarm on my '98 VR4 has started going off for no reason.

First started yesterday and has gone off today twice.

I've had to lock it with the keys to avoid waking up people.

Its standard fit and I believe is TOAD

Anyone any advice?

Cheers

When does it go off? Mine went through a spat of sounding within 30 mins of getting out. I discovered it was the seatbelt suddenly deciding to reel itself back in. I now check it has reeled in properly before I leave the car and no further problems.

If it's a Cobra (or maybe even a Toad) you may find it's the battery backup supply in the siren itself. If it's knackered and not holding it's charge then when it gets below a certain charge it will start to go off on it's own.

A new Cobra siren is around £40-£50.......if you go to a Mitsy dealer or an alarm specialist don't be fooled by them saying the Cobra siren is now longer available....it is !

You can call Cobra direct to confirm stock, but you will have to order it through an alarm dealer. I think it's an A5370 Cobra siren.

Do your alarms have shock sensors? These can cause problems often. It may need adjusting to be less sensitive if possible depending on your alarm. Either that or the sensor has faulted. One of my flatmates has an alarm which will go off if a mouse farts! /Grrr

As for the cold setting them off I havn't really heard of that but it's definately possible. I work with electronics and honestly you'd think they were possessed half the time!
