Anyone had the downpipe fabricated in the UK or ordered online? After a lot of searching on the forum decided this is my next mod along with hard pipe kit before I get my apexi safc mapped.

Looking for more info, anyone ordered this specific downpipe or ordered from anywhere else or is there any recommendations as to where to have it fabricated?

Cheers

Have de cat already, been reading a lot of old threads about the benefits of the downpipe. Any ideas on timescale and price or is it still in the early stages?

You will need to know the measurements of the standard downpipe and the new downpipe, if you upgrade, it needs to be wider!!

The wider the downpipe (typically 3"), the easier exhaust gas will pass and at the top end of the boost curve, you will notice less drop in boost..

HOWEVER...

I have just bought a turbo ELBOW AND DOWPIPE, they are both 3" to match the 3" decat and cat back exhaust.. with the boost turned up, should be good for 380/90 BHP!! (Mmmmmmm 0-60 in sub 4 secs....)

The reason I mention this is make sure you have 3" from TURBOS BACK, anything in between, that is smaller (say 2") would make the rest flow at the smaller diameter rate, thus making it a pointless upgrade on it's own, also, try and buy the elbows at the same time and make sure they fit together, some have different stud patterns!! At least on the evo's....

Definately a worthwhile mod!!! But you wont see massive bhp increases until you get to top end of rev range, and if i remember correctly, that's when my VR4 dropped from 1bar to around 0.7, with 3" back and on same boost, you would probably see 0.9 bar dropping to 0.8 bar, but bar for bar you will be producing better BHP through the range and it will allow you to turn boost slightly higher...

Hope that helps,

Regards,

Mike
