This is more for the MZ members but any comments are appreciated.

I have a 96 Black Legnum VR4 which I am going to part out. What sought of prices should I be asking for the major items, ie engine (86Km), gearbox, Tein suspension, 3" Fujibitso stainless exhaust etc. All in very good order.

I also have the factory BBS wheels, interior all in excellent nick.

I will probably put most of the stuff on trademe unless anyone here wants something.

Thanks.

How far does the exhaust go ? Where does it start from and does it go to the end pipe or just to muffler ?

You See or Kenneth might be after the Tein's, why are you breaking it up? It is probably worth asking around here, you might be surprised to see just how much you can sell here.

You See also might be after the rear door handles.

Yep Teins and the rear door handles please....PM me what you want for them! :)

Jesus you guys are vultures!!!!!!!

The muffler is the whole shebang as far as I can tell, it's pretty hard to get under the car as it's sits pretty low with the setting on the TEIN's at the moment. I have had a look and it certainly seems to be stainless all the way through, maybe 2.5" towards the front disappearing into the engine bay and 3" at the back. The rear muffler has Fujibitso stamped on it. The front of the exhaust seems to have springs on it near the engine?

I haven't really thought about price for anything yet and I'm not really sure what everything is worth. If I do sell the parts to members I won't be trying to rip anyone off and I would expect the same in return.

I have someone coming to look at the whole car tonight at 8:30pm so I will see how that goes, in the meantime feel free to PM with any offers on stuff you might want. Here are a few pics.

to be fair Osiris the door handles are black, so they won't suit your car. I'm all keen to see a mudfight for the teins though :D

Gly, I don't think those endcaps will line up that well on your car with your large side skirts, if I had to recommend any I would suggest you go with the facelift ones for the cars with wheel arches. Have a look in my Gallery at mine, I think they will line up quite well.

Forgot to add that the car came with the original factory muffler in the boot which is complete so that further leads me to think that the stainless muffler is also complete.

How much do you think I could sell the engine for and should I include the ecu/gearbox or sell seperately?

You See
13-03-2006, 08:18 AM
Not sure about the price, but best to sell it with the complete loom....ECU could be optional and with the Gearbox. Brad has bought a complete engine so he's probably the best person to answer your question....brad?

bradc
13-03-2006, 08:19 AM
a few grand I guess, you could call kempy's and ask them how much an engine would cost to buy from them. Is it a manual or auto?

bradc
13-03-2006, 08:21 AM
my engine was seized so I got it for $500, all the loom was destroyed, etc. I think you may as well sell the ecu with the engine, I guess it just depends on if you find a person who wants just an engine.

Gly

OK here is an update.

The guy that turned up to look at the whole car was a tyre kicking young fella so I am seriously thinking that parting it out is the way to go.

I have had an offer for the exhaust which I think is fair from a member so thats probably gone pending payment etc.

Anyone interested in anything else PM me an offer, I guess we could use trademe as a guide for similar sales and then take a bit off for mates rates:happy:

I will try and confirm the exact model of the TEIN's, I did do a post not long after I got the car with the model number last year but not sure if it's still floating around after the recent software changes. As far as shipping goes I can possibly get most items to Nelson in a few weeks and ship from there or drop off on the way to keep costs down or can send sooner if need be.

Cheers

Looks like the TEIN's, rear door handles and exhaust are sold. Still have everything else left, including factory exhaust/suspension. Let me know if you guys need anything else before I put the stuff on trademe.

Hey.

What kind of Front seats does it have? Standard, Bucket? Cloth or leather?

Is it a manual or an auto?

I'm interested in the gear knob from the manual, and some new seats.

Cheers

Jono

Strmike - Have any interior parts you need and have wheel jack. Not sure about tools though. Interior is not leather. If you need any parts best to take a quick pic for me and email me so I know exactly what your'e ater.

Dreamer - front seats are standard as far as I can tell. Cloth in excellent condition. Tiptronic gearbox.

Yeah I've got a few people in the que. it's a pretty sweet looking exhaust though. I'm pretty sure the first deal is as good as done and I'm sure that member will let you all know so he can gloat when it's finalised.

I'll see if I can pull it off tomorrow after work and figure out what brand it is, I did have a quick look whilst I was under the car pulling of Kenneth's exhaust but I couldn't see any names on it. Mind you most of the aftermarket parts I have seen installed in Japan are normally reasonable quality.

BOV looks good so far. If you can get it off the vehicle, with the appropriate flange (I can see it uses a 2 bolt flange, must have that flange and associated piping to mate up to the standard piping) and if you can get me some pics that'll be much appreciated.

Thanks,
OSiRiS :)

Hi

How does $250 sound plus shipping? I really don't have much idea what they are all worth. I am thinking of stripping the car next week so I could get the parts then. Other members may be able to give us an indication on a fair price, I am just having a guess.

marmel, imho $250 does seem kind of cheap for all the stuff Gly would be buying, but then you need to take into account that it would be completely useless to most people, therefore I think that $250 is a fair price :)

I won't know how much everyhing weighs until I get it all off the car. I also have the factory 16" BBS alloys which are 5 stud, quite nice wheels if you are after 16". I thought about swapping everything over to my own GDi Legnum as well.

I wish I'd known about the Tein sus a couple of weeks ago. I bought a 1996 Legnum VR-4 with TYPE HA TEIN Suspension from an import dealer in Newcastle Upon Tyne. Within 3 weeks of owning it (1000 km covered) I found part of the suspension spring seat locking ring on the floor under my car, so I put it up on jacks and had a good check over all the suspension. I found that the sping seat locking collars on all 4 corners had corroded through to the point of dropping off and one of the rear springs had corroded through and cracked. Took it to a local garage who priced me up some Tein Super wagon sus. Ended up paying out £1,045 for full lot imported from Japan. Warranty company wouldn't pay out as was due to corrosion and garage I bought VR-4 from would only pay £200 towards the cost, UNLESS I could find a price for some second hand Tein sus. So far I have never been able to find any and had to settle for their poor £200 contribution. Since then I've just found out that 3 wheel bearings have gone and my Turbos are on the way out (loud squeeling/whining sound on acceleration). Pretty bad considering I've had it 3 months and was sold to me with 12 months MOT and just serviced!! Bunch of cowboys!! BE WARNED!! Never buy from A1 Performance centre in Newcastle Upon Tyne!!!! or should I say A1 NON Performance??!!??
