View Full Version : How noisy is your AYC pump?

I think my AYC pump is getting a tad noisy.

I'm not talking about when the system is in use (it's not clutch plate noise), but when you first move off, or when you come to a complete stop. It sounds like the system is 'priming' - and you hear a whine that's not unlike the sound your central heating pump makes. It just seems noisy - you can clearly hear it when starting off - but I'm not sure if this is 'normal' or not?

Can anyone comment?

Never heard mine Kieren ...... even when I had a standard exhaust.

If it's something you've just noticed I'd change all the fluids - but I guess you've probably already done that.

I heard mine quite clearly when it was fresh off the boat, the first few times I used it.

Not sure I've heard a thing since

Hmmm.... time for a change of the hydraulic fluid methinks...... Done the others and the Hyd fluid looks okay, but might be an airlock in there I'm wondering.

Thanks for the replies guys!

Mine was occasionally noisy on roundabouts/enthusiastic liftoffs when i first bought it, quick fluid change sorted it out though and it has been quiet as mices ever since....

No, I don't hear mine either. It could be due to a knackered accumulator not holding pressure in the system.

It's normal Kieran - but only as you begin to roll for the first drive of the day and even then just for a couple of seconds. I'd be worried if I DIDN'T hear mine.

Seems to be more audible in a leggie - especially if you haven't got the load cover fitted.
