Following on from here (http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=15110).

Just another thought - if you run a VR4 on 95 octane unleaded instead of 97/98
the ECU will knock about 60 bhp off the output. If so you will need to reset the ECU (after filling with 97/98):inquisiti

Really, reset the ECU? I'm pretty sure the previous owner of Bandit never used 'propa' fuel, but obviously I have since, d'you reckon I could release a few Jeenobby's by resetting it?

Oh yes.............. I ran mine on 95 for a couple of weeks not long after I got it. Realised my mistake filled with Optimax reset the ECU and wow, what a difference.

What is the general concenus? Will I benefit from resetting the ECU or will it just give me a headache waiting for the g/box to re-learn all the learning bits?

Cheers

It seems more noticeable on the 'Official' cars I think. But yes, it's worth doing!

Right, anything I need to know? I just undo the battery for 10, then back on right? & put up with the lumpy driving for a few hundred miles or so!

I thought we'd agreed it was going to be called Hammer! Oh well....

I agree you should reset the ECU. A couple of sharp taps with a large plastic mallet should do it

Its worth a shot, just to see what happens.... :D

The fuel doesn't seem to make any difference to my car performance wise (I got my fastest time on G-Tech with 95 fuel) and the gearbox seems unaffected when I reset ECU (maybe its just the way I drive? )

Still worth resetting your car to see if it makes any difference...

Just to show my complete ignorance in all things technical, I have been running Lucy on 95 octane for the last 3 tanks (Sorry /pan ) whats the best solution, wait until the tanks empty and fill her up with 98 then reset the ECU or if I do it now will the ECU reset with the power loss..... /help

I really need to start paying ATTENTION /Grrr

I'd do a couple or three tanks of Optimax to get all of the 95 flushed through Phil, then reset.
