Mo (Zedy1) had a V6-24 that had 186K on it some time ago - it was still smooth and quiet.

There's been a VR-4 with 150,000 miles been sold recently.

They're durable engines. :)

There was a Golf R32, 1 of a fleet of about 12 that was on E-bay a couple of years ago. IIRC it had around 400,000miles on it.. It was 1 of a fleet that used to do European deliverys of Valuables(ie.Jewelery) etc.

It was only about 2 years old, it had all service history with it to :speechles

Yes... they said for delivering jems. I think that was a euphemism for "very hard drugs".

my NA V6 was sitting on 225,000kms and was still quiet, didnt use any oil, infact it was in very good condition.

regular servicing helps so much!

I love this question, it really comes down to how long is a piece of string question. A car driven hard will last 100,000mile/km what ever and car driven reasonably will last 300,000miles/km. It is also luck of the draw really, some engines are stronger than others when they are built as well.

Like the last post stated as long as the engine is serviced regularly then it should last longer.
