Does anyone know if the discs and calipers from pre-facelift VR4 will fit a UK Galant V6 or any other Galant for that matter?:inquisiti

Paul Beazer's V6 Sport is an early type and has VR-4 twin-piston calipers. However, this seems to be an oddity. All the other non-VR-4s I've seen use a single-piston caliper, though up untill 2000/2001, the pad shape was the same as a VR-4 I think.

From start of production untill 1998, the V6 used 256mm front discs - same as the 2.0. Then the disc size changed to 276mm from 1998 onwards, and in late 2000/early 2001, Mitsu changed the calipers slightly and so the shape of the brake pad changed.

Have a look at this link... It's a bit all over the shop, but it shows pad sizes.

As far as I can tell, DP830 was used on the 2.0 untill late 2000, and the 2.5V6 untill 1998.

Then it went to DP954 for the 2.5 untill some time late 2000. This is the pad that fits the VR-4. I know because I ordered a set of these for my V6 Sport. when I realised they were incorrect, I kept hold of them - and found that they fit on the VR-4.

Then, from late 2000 onwards (my 2000 registered V6 Sport also uses these pads), DP1614 was used.

As to whether they'll fit.... Well, the VR-4 is 5 stud. the V6 isnt!
Hope this helps!

There's always been some anomalies on these. 5 stud and 4 stud has always been a constant. But from the facelift v6 onwars, calipers and pads did not seem to be constant. Mine has the bigger pads and twin pots and it's a 2000my. So worth a look on individual cars.

Thanks Andy

So what are the model numbers for UK Galants? EA5A?

I have a Pre-facelift Hub and V6 caliper.... and the caliper bolt spacings are the same.... so as far as I can guess... you can fit the pre-facelist VR4 caliper on a V6 hub.

Not sure about the disks tho...

And a semi hijak, does anyone know if the lower suspension arms are the same for the VR4 as they are for the slow galants?

Bern!! /grr Stop it! You cannot call any Galant a 'slow' car they're all plenty quick enough!!! /pan /pan /pan /Grrr

Marcus....

2.0 - EA2A
2.4GDi - EA3A
2.5V6 EA5A
2.0 Diesel (Eire only) EA6A

The model codes did not change with years, and did not differentiate between trim levels either (so a 2.5 Sport and a V6-24 have the same code).
