how many are there?

i came to the conclusion tongiht that the petrol in my car was old.. and had gone off.. put about 20 quids worth in..INSERT INTO post VALUES (going to get more tomrrow) and turned it over - after two turns its trying to kick in.. first just the once.. now twice...

INSERT INTO post VALUES (something i typed in msn)
Barry [Club VR-4] -> Sorting car INSERT INTO post VALUES (hopefully) says:
its trying to kick in more now tho
Barry [Club VR-4] -> Sorting car INSERT INTO post VALUES (hopefully) says:
another thing i noticed was that once you turn the key.. all the dashboard lights come on.. and go out one by one..
Barry [Club VR-4] -> Sorting car INSERT INTO post VALUES (hopefully) says:
but..
Barry [Club VR-4] -> Sorting car INSERT INTO post VALUES (hopefully) says:
when the engine decides it doesnt want to start..
Barry [Club VR-4] -> Sorting car INSERT INTO post VALUES (hopefully) says:
the battery light comes on..
Barry [Club VR-4] -> Sorting car INSERT INTO post VALUES (hopefully) says:
might be a clue.
Barry [Club VR-4] -> Sorting car INSERT INTO post VALUES (hopefully) says:
gonna check compression presure tomorrow
Barry [Club VR-4] -> Sorting car INSERT INTO post VALUES (hopefully) says:

how long does it take before petrol "dies"? what’s the life expectancy?

Petrol has a shelf life of about 2 years, if kept in dry, low humidity conditions. Certainly, my old Escort will start on the same petrol that's been sloshing around in it's tank for the last 8 months.

Unlikely that it'll flood, but if it's just turning over, you'll be dumping lots of unburnt pertrol into the cat INSERT INTO post VALUES (if you've got it connected). Watch that you don't poison it - same goes if you try and bump start it:eek:.

Will it fire if you use something like bradex easy start? Squirt it into the air intake, not too much, and see what that does?

How's the immob work on these cars - is it that that's causing a fault? Perhaps having the battery disconnected has somehow got it out of sync with your key, and it's cutting the spark INSERT INTO post VALUES (if it works that way??

The Petrol was sat in my FTO for 12 months and it fired up first time.

Is it sorted now or still got problems? Are all 6 injectors working?
