looks like Steve was getting ready to load up :)

Question - how come you all live in funny little houses over there? It looks like there are 3 houses in that space there. Is land very expensive? If you look in my gallery you'll see a couple of pics with my house in the background which is a typical NZ style house.

thats well spaced round my way the developers have been known to buy something like that and put 6 houses on it ( not including rear you cannot see)
round where i live i the average wage is £20,000 a 2 bed terrace with a garden 8mx3m will sell for at least £120,000
back on topic are you sure the ford would be allowed on the drive

eep, I could never live that close to someone. Over here I think the average wage is about NZ$30-35k and house prices range anywhere from $300-400k for an average family sized home in Auckland, although other places in the country are much cheaper.

Ahh, but remember:

New Zealand
Area: 268,000 sq km
Population: 4,076,000
Density: 15.2 persons per sq km

United Kingdom
Area: 245,000 sq km
Population: 60,609,000
Density: 247.4 persons per sq km

And the figures for over here include Scotland and Wales, which are a bit more civilised as far as elbow room goes. England has been standing room only for quite some time now.
:p

Just got in from my dads, finished unloading even more of my crap into his garage, he's on about charging me rent /help

Just for the record, I don't even have a house because prices are so high, I rent a decent size flat nearish to town. But desparately need a garage. My only hope is that my Dad will get so fed up of my stuff, he'll stump up some cash to help me move into my/our own place.

Anyway, thanks for the hospitality Bern, and thanks for the wheels. I'm sure we'll be round again to have a nice CVR4 BBQ on that lovely decking of yours (hint, hint)

See you in a few weeks

Steve

I'm not sure if WRD are doing cambelts yet.

I had mine done at Xtreme in Dudley. It's quite a big job, so not cheap. I'll see if I can find the invoice, but I don't think it was less than £400!

WRD can deffo do the oils for you. You could do it DIY...if you follow the 'how to' in the members section. You'll also get discount on Amsoil by becoming a member, and many of us woiuld recommend Amsoil as the stuff to use.

Hi lo-fasty

I live in Rugby and have my work done at Oak Tree on the A46 by pass. Although Sulli hasn't been to impressed with them I can't rate them highly enough. I have just had my cambelt and other belts done along with plugs etc and full fluid changes for £700. Not cheap but when it comes to anything going pop with the cambelt then at least I'm covered and if you are a member then they will give you a discount on service and parts:happy: Hope this helps and if you ever crash or need any body work doing give me and Rally205 a bell:2thumbsup

Red Lady, the last time I spoke to Oaktree, they said they wouldn't work on imports... have they changed their tune now? (Quite happy to sell me 400 quids worth of sriveshaft though... :|)

I always forget sir that I have an official import:afro: so therefore I am special:evilgrin: mind you having said that Marcus had his serviced there and his is one of those grey thingys like what you have and he's not as special as me neither. I shall ask him for you later when I see him:kiss:

I had one good and one bad experience at Oak Tree. The service manager was an ar$e, but his assistant, is it Graham??? was OK and sorted me out one time. The parts Guy (Tim??) was OK too with discounts.
As for only doing UK models - true as far as they told me, but, if they do Ralliart ones like Reds and my old one, then they are almost exactly the same as imports, so they should know what they're doing. They have two Ralliart trained mechs there. Just say its not an import, or quote the EU Regs that say they should service them (dunno if thats true, but it might change their minds).

NZ has a very high sheep per sq km density however. So it isn't empty as you might think here!

Here are some statistics I found on NZ. Haha! :)

The 1st column is year; 2nd is no. of sheep; 3rd is no. of people, 4th is sheep per person and the 5th is sheep per sq km.

1951 34,786,386 1,938,032 18 133
1956 40,255,488 2,175,373 19 154
1961 48,462,310 2,414,269 20 185
1966 57,343,257 2,676,778 21 219
1971 58,911,525 2,862,000 21 225
1976 56,400,377 3,110,500 18 215
1981 69,883,765 3,124,900 22 267
1986 67,469,515 3,246,300 21 258
1991 55,161,643 3,380,100 16 211
1996 47,393,907 3,591,200 13 181
1999 45,679,891 3,829,600 12 174

I know I must be getting boring by now but try RSE Motorsport in North Wales. Their labour charges are half of Xtreme and they do a good job. In fact they do work for Xtreme if Xtreme has a customer break down in the area.

They know the VR-4, as they have just rebuilt mine !
