OK, embarrassing as it is, I'll have a stab:

Did a good job of poking my 97 Leggy by glancing a parked Beema and bouncing my cross member off a road island and creasing the roof on impact.

So, I'm looking for a similar model, possibly with stuffed running gear as mine is still OK (and faster than your average bear).

I'm trying the usual avenues like T&E and trademe, but if anyone hears of anything, can you let me know please?

Cheers
Aaryn

there was a really cheap vr-4 on trademe with a dead gearbox about a month ago, maybe you can search for something similar?

Found a few really tidy non turbo models online. Both the 1800 and 2500 models.

Does anyone have any idea how much of a major difference getting a hold of an NA modell and trying a transplant?

Also, mine is a manual. Should I have any issues with the electrics/ecu when trying to slot it in to a tiptronic model?

Cheers Fellas.

If you get a 2.5 v6 then at least they share a similar engine, but the transmission will be all wrong. It is probably better to stick with a VR-4, unless you want to go non-turbo like I think Gly is trying to hint.

The tiptronic does have it's own computer which needs to be hooked up to the engine ecu, just something you need to be aware of.

Sweet, Cheers mate. I just paid up to become a member in the hope that the members-only access will help with this little project.

Decided to change my handle to my plate Muppsy for that purpose.

So will let you know how it all goes.
