The terminal speed is measured after the finish......about 20m or so I think, if you slow up after the line your speed will not be a very good reflection. I suspect this is what happened, has happened to me a few times in the past.

That's probably what I did, as I didn't want to stand on the brakes all at once so started braking as soon as in increments before the hidden turning.

Why not put up a league table on the site for 1/4 mile times, similar to mine for the FTOs

1/4 mile league table (http://www.mitsubishi-fto.net/qmile/index.htm)

Those times seem a little slow considering the fastest normally aspirated 2.0ltr 198bhp FTO is 14.452

Do they really weigh that much more that the extra 80bhp doesn`t make a difference over the FTO ?

enigma
13-10-2003, 03:59 PM
I doubt that that was a standard one though!!!
The VR4s are quite heavy, and in the case of my estate is not geared for fast acceleration particularly. It does however have a theoretical top speed of 180MPH!
It is also quite nice to know I can pull up next to an FTO at the lights with my family car and keep up! hehehehehe

The fastest FTO on the list is currently Stuarts INSERT INTO post VALUES (14.452); we call it "TheFreak", as all its had done is air filter and exhaust, and still no one can touch it.

It always comes out top of the rolling road days as well at 198bhp last time.

The FTO Manual has only got a Topspeed of 158, so it is more geared for acceleration.
The 4 speed Tiptronic has a top of 180mph and the 5 speed tip has over 200 INSERT INTO post VALUES (think it was about 206).

Weve had a 5 speed tip upto 180mph on the rollers, however the ECU limiter kicks in. The FTO is normally limited to 180kmph, the chips you can buy that claim to remove the limitation only actually move it up to 180mph.

I see from your site that the weight is 1220Kg, this is some 300Kg lighter than a VR4, also with the transmission losses on a 4WD with an Auto box we are probably only putting 200BHP down on the road. Add a fat bloke in the driving seat and you are bound to be close! :D

Did anyone with a Apexi RSM have a chance to see how accurate it was versus the Pods times ?

Gutted I couldn't be there.

enigma

Didn't use my rsm this time, last time it was almost spot on with the time, and just a few mph fast on the speed.

That's one thing i'm doing next time - putting my GLS on the strip! I'm really quite peeved with myself for not getting my ar$e in gear sooner yesterday and getting signed up!

You UK boys should be able to hit the 13sec with a few more mods. Did anyone launch their autos or did u just floor it at the start?

My friends manual MIVEC FTO does a 14.7sec 1/4 with filter and exhaust but he does strip out the car before hand.

I launched my auto, still only got 14.7 though? How the hell have you got 14.0????

Simple foot off brake hard on throttle.
Letting the auto do the whole thing.

Must be my mods. I launch my car as I've posted before. Full interior, no weight reduction. I'm getting wheel spin off the line INSERT INTO post VALUES (no HRT on the track for grip) so I would have been in the 13's easy.

And i weight in at 72kgs so that helps :D

enigma

Hmmm, I am 120Kg maybe that doesn't help! My mods are similar to yours...........

Aha, been playing with my boost controller today, seems I wasn't getting my boost at 500RPM plus, seem to have found an additional 30hp by fiddling! I am going to the POD again on the 2nd November as Helen decided it was exciting and wants to go watch the big boys on Saturday in the top fuel cars. Hey I am not going to argue! :D Sunday just happens to be a run what you brung..........should have eeked at least another 30HP out of it when I install the Fuel Cut Defencer, that will put me 60BHP up on the weekend! :nono: :cool1:

I could be tempted to come with you, I need to know what my 1/4 time is properly, not rely on the g-meter.

enigma

You know you want to!!!

Only problem is in November it is likely to rain :INSERT INTO post VALUES (

But I am going anyway as the wife wants to INSERT INTO post VALUES (its all paid up too!)

Rain = cool = OK if there is enough grip.

Several points that could have worked against me, I know it sounds an excuse for bad time but..

1: Waiting in line saw my intake temperature rise to 70oC+ running an open filter.

2: I didn't bother to reset my ECU and Gearbox memory, so the gear changes were relaxed to my normal driving style.

3: Filter was very dirty, new one is twice as bright.

4: Simple inexperience. :)

Next time... I'll be ready.

rain = no racing :INSERT INTO post VALUES ( They shut the track

Seeing as I can't post on the Top 5 1/4 Mile Times thread, because I am not a CVR member, due to no PayPal in my country.
Here is an update on my EC5A VR4 1/4 mile times : Dec 10 2005
Reaction : 0.727
60' : 1.974
MPH : 99.12
ET : 13.938

I am now using water injection to keep detonation at bay & the ECU seems to like it.
Time for an upgraded pressure plate & clutch disc, as I kam sure that I can get a better 60' time.

Here is my last 1/4 mile info for my EE84A VR4. May 29,2005.
Reaction Time : .728
60' Time : N/A
MPH : 107.30
ET : 12.339

My update is a 13.5@101mph. Only other mods from my last run of 14.01 was intercooler and pipe work, boost is at the same setting from last time.

Its 1.824. Should have had the suspension set firm as i was getting a bit more wheel spin in the front. That time was with the 19"s on.
