Brind

Ummmm Mr Elliott won't be on track will he?? if he is then F... right off!! :D :D

Dunno if I've got the bottle though, I'd love to try it without question but to write off a 12k INSERT INTO post VALUES (which is a lot of money to me) car in a stupid maneuver doesn't sound like a lot of fun.

BraindG
14-10-2003, 10:28 PM
you dont have to go mad the second you get on track..
i would feel relatively confident doing such a thing, as ive raced my vr4 a fair amount, and understand the way its balanced, and its outer limits..

good old single track up in Scotland taught me well over the years :D

plus im a bit mad behind the wheel anyway.. INSERT INTO post VALUES (when its the right time and place)

Brind
14-10-2003, 10:34 PM
You wrote off your first VR-4, how the hell can I trust you!!! :D

enigma
14-10-2003, 10:41 PM
Do you drive your VR4 on the roads? Away from lights? Its much safer when you have a straight bit of road, 4 wheel drive, insane amounts of traction etc etc etc. You will only upset your car if it has been hevily modified, isn't that right Mo?! Mo was unfortunate that a simple failure had catastrophic results, how many cars did you see run? How many broke?

Your car probably gets a harder time on the road that it would at the POD, unless of course you drive like my granny! :angel1:

Barry is right, you choose how quick you want to go, stamp on the gas and fly, or feather the throttle and errrr still pretty much fly! :D

Pod wasn't a problem, I often weld my foot to the floor and reach 90mph in the same time I managed at Pod.

The only difference is you don't have to worry about others near you.
Whereas someone could get cocky on the track and decide to take me to see the barriers with them, I'd be happy to go aound it's just it is alot to lose if a mistake happens.

Spirit

Great response already - well done everyone !

Mark, I understand and share your reservations but as they say life is not a practice run :D Guess if your not sure then thats cool and not an issue with anybody but I see no problem if you went at the back of the starting line up as it is unlikely anyone is gonna be able to lap you so you could just take it steady.

Bring on the Castle Combe VR4 convoy !

Brind

True, I may be pursueded nearer the time, I really wanna go believe me! :)

Spirit
15-10-2003, 01:05 AM
This is gonna be one cool event - 11 INSERT INTO post VALUES (12 with Brind) track cars already and 7 months to go ! Definately enough to have our own club track time - guess we need to email them to see how many is the max on the track at one time INSERT INTO post VALUES (think 15 at this years) so we can either have a limit or make two groups

wirdy
15-10-2003, 12:48 PM
Count me in for both as well pete! I won't wimp out with a poor excuse like ' I forgot my driving licence' next time...
and I won't be so upset to take all the edges off my INSERT INTO post VALUES (new) tyres by then.

Ditto all the other comments...our cars are pretty strong and can easily handle the abuse of a track day as long as you warm up and warm down.

I'm not following Interlec, unless he gets his gearbox fixed!!! I haven't got traction control :uhoh: :uhoh:

I have noticed the incredibly short time it takes to respond to any comment made on this site at ay time of the night or day.

Do you, or any other members, ever stop monitoring this site?

enigma

The site wouldn't xist if the members were not active!

My wife was so pleased to see Kermit, Fozzy, Chef, Gonzo, and the rest of the muppets at Santa Pod.......not sure what she meant but I think it is a term of endearment!!!

I have two monitors, keyboards... what you didn't see INSERT INTO post VALUES (and i believe i was stripping on Saturday night to show you) was my other pair of arms..

I dont monitor as much when im at work.. INSERT INTO post VALUES (im really busy this week.. to many bloody servers dying :INSERT INTO post VALUES ( )

but when im at home i always keep an eye on things.
unless, im drunk, out or sleeping im not monitoring.. but then we have pescha who keeps an eye on things from NZ.. so all in all, we have a fairly good coverage by the mods :D

Th emuppet comment just made me INSERT INTO post VALUES (and my work colleagues) laugh out loud!

Simon

I know its early to mention this but............all we will need for C Combe Track Time is..........1.car 2.arms and legs covered 3.only front seat passengers 4.crash helmet

Ive only mentioned this now because not everyone will have a crash helmet and they can be expensive to buy......CC have some for hire but in limited supply!. Ohh and you DONT need your driving licence!

They should also be providing one or two Parade Laps where you can go on track in a HUGE convoy behind a pace car INSERT INTO post VALUES (set at 55mph) no overtaking, just to get a feel for the track.

Hope this helps.

Spirit
15-10-2003, 06:29 PM
I visit the site as often as I can when at home INSERT INTO post VALUES (no access at work) - take my mod job seriously :)

Simon - thanks for the reminder about crash helmets for CC - will need to organise borrowing one INSERT INTO post VALUES (or two).

I'm an internetholic! since I have had broadband I'm virtually glued to it. :D
Anyway it would be pointless if knowone said anything and we'd never get anywhere, so it is just great we all get on so well.
Plus it's my job to look over every post to keep everyone in line and alter Petes posts for a laugh. :D

That sounds quite good! perhaps a bit slow but safe enough for newbies.

Good advice that ! At the moment I would guess non-members will not get a look in at next year's shows :nono:
