Hi All,

Just been to Power Engineering today in Uxbridge (London) they sorted my Tracking (toe anyway) so my wheels now have the ok:2thumbsup and should hopfully wear equally but time will tell:inquisiti

They could'nt do my camber neither front or rear as they said the car did not have the adjustable Mech bits for it to be done they explained that the top circular control arm (semi circal hoop at topof arch) needs to be ajdustable and isin't so It could'nt be done---- Is This True or were they just getting out of doing it ???:inquisiti

(I have to say I belive them but is what they are saying correct?):inquisiti

I have to thank Extreme in Dudley:thumbsup: for the settings as Power engineering had'nt a clue:party3: so It was a good job I took the settings with me.

So here goes---- ( the settings are written as I heard them down the phone so the figures are spot on but the discriptions may be slightly wrong such as "Degrees, Minutes etc.) I will write them as Deg and Min rather than trying to search window's/ font pack for correct symbol)

Front Toe------- 0 Deg + or - 3mm (Parallel)
Front Camber----0 Deg 10mm + or - 30min (negative is better)

Rear Toe---------3mm + or - 3mm
Rear Camber ----0 Deg 50min + or - 30min

Anti Liabilty Clause :scholar: --- All abv Information may be used as guidance but no baddly fitted set up or incorrect settings nor uneaven tyre wear is or will be, accountable to myself or Extreme for this infomation. Its purely guidance.(even though my car is now set up like this)

Cheers :pimp2:

Those figures seem to be different to the ones posted here (http://www.clubvr4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=299)?

Hmm am still suffering from extreme inner edge tyre wear on drivers side at the moment and so wondering if this could be suspension related as have had tracking done twice recently

Where is everyone taking their cars to get tracked and if so how many suffer inside edge tyre wear?

ANyone else have any details about their tracking / toe specifications? (is it in mitsu documentation anywhere?)

I will post up my settings once i find the data sheets...

Cheers

Funny you should mention it but I noticed my drivers front wheel exhibits a lot of inside wear where as the opposite shows equal wear across the tyre ???
I was going to take it to get it sorted but it seems there maybe a little more to it?
Has anyone else found the same thing or is this just a few isolated problems ?

I've had a nightmare of a week with my Legnum VR4.
First i start braking and here some bad squealing, so i take the car to kwikfit.
Diagnosis was 1mm passenger front 1.5mm Drivers Front pads !

Reason i used kwikfit was for
1. NO APPOINTMENT
2.NEW BRAKES in 2HRs
3.They are guarenteed for the life i own the car.

Then the even more bad news, the almost brand new Falken 451 had aprrox 1" inside wear and had carcas showing

The nice guy told me about a garage right by me called mototec in blackwood, who do computer & laser 4 wheel alinement.

And without reading this forum found out the hard way of NO CAMBER adjustment.

The remidy they have used to try to limit inside wear is to toe in.
I have a really detailed printout i can scan and post if you want, but i shall put my before and after details below.

I think the " o " is degrees

BEFORE

LEFT FRONT RIGHT FRONT

Camber -0 o 51' RED -1 o 04' RED
Caster 4 o 34' GREEN 4 o 27' GREEN
Toe -0 o 02' GREEN -0 o 03' GREEN

LEFT REAR RIGHT REAR

Camber -2 o 31' RED -2 o 47' RED
Toe 0 o 20' GREEN -0 o 06' GREEN

AFTER

LEFT FRONT RIGHT FRONT

Camber -0 o 51' RED -1 o 03' RED
Caster 4 o 34' GREEN 4 o 27' GREEN
Toe 0 o 11' GREEN 0 o 12' GREEN

LEFT REAR RIGHT REAR

Camber -2 o 34' RED -2 o 47' RED
Toe 0 o 19' GREEN 0 o 18' GREEN

I've had to replace both front Falken 451's with 452's @ £78 each plus vat.

I think i'm going to have to find out about the camber adjusting kit from intrax
and see it they fit on the legnum.

I got Ariadne fully 4 wheel aligned today - Christ, what a difference a few degrees make!!/rally

I'll post the specifications tomorrow when I'm not so tired, but basically if your VR-4 is aligned using the UK-Spec 2WD settings, then you've nothing to worry about as they are the same.

I know this because I spent an hour last night wading through the Japanese Galant/Legnum manual (which has the settings for the VR-4 in it) and translating the relevant details.:scholar:

Interestingly, the 2WD and VR-4 Galant/Legnums share their alignment settings. However the 4WD Galants/Legnums that are *not* VR-4s have different settings - They have a narrower camber specification.

I would however advise anyone who's meddled with their suspension to get their angles checked out. I had to because I cocked something up, but even if you have no reason to, I'd recommend it anyway - just to be sure.

I used these guys:

http://www.alignment-services.co.uk/

They're based in Nottingham (two sites, i used the basford one) and they are highly recommended by several other car forums (Corvette, Lexus, Rover, etc. etc.). It's worth a trip and £50 notes gives you a full setup and enough change to pop down the local and have a 'my car is now aligned' celebratory Orange and Lemonade! :afro:

A caveat on the settings though -

For example: "Front Toe------- 0 Deg + or - 3mm (Parallel)"

This allows for settings anywhere between 3mm toe-out and 3mm toe-in to be "within stated tolerances" which is an easy get-out for tyre fitters or alignment specialists not to cough up for your tyres wearing excessively on either inner or outer edges. I run my front wheels parallel and don't accept anyone telling me that any amount of toe-in or -out is acceptable, even if they say it's within stated tolerances. My tyres wear evenly and have done so ever since I had the laser alignment done on my first VR-4 in May 2003. Since then, I've done around 140,000 miles and have never had uneven wear.
