And they gave me a quote
All in including parts, labour @ 7.5 hours , VAT = £893.17

Its the cam belt that upps this so much :Cry1:

That is about £100 more than I paid, but is the right order of magnitude!

Im due for that too. :Cry1: Sounds about right. I got a quote of around 800 from my local mitsudealer. I tried to get my local mechanic to do the expensive, labour intensive bits of the service like belt and plugs to reduce the cost. He tried to borrow the specialist tools required from another mitsu dealer which he claims is a regular type agreement but they refused point blank saying that that practice is not allowed anymore.

Looks like theirs no way to avoid the big bill. :mad2:

It's not only VR4's which are high maintenance. It's that time of year for my humble Renault Kangoo van. [ '99 "S" reg, 1 owner, FSH. ]

MOT £25 [ if it passes ]
2 front tyres £70
exhaust £170
tax [ end of oct ] £160 ?
injectors £110 + labour
diesel pump: [ £200 if its repairable,
£500 if it's not !! ] + labour
50 K service £100 + parts & labour

that equals...........err.........err......... god knows :Cry1: :Cry1:

All cars are high maintenance:Cry1: That said, Mitsubishi have almost turned the extracting of megapounds from people's wallets into an art form!!!:D

And if the Kangoo is that expensive, why not bin it and use your legnum?!:D:biglaugh:

£893.17! that really is daylight robbery, bast..ds!
To think, really, Mitsubishi are trying very hard to compete against other manufacturers and yet they charge whatever they like.. but they won't ever be considered worthy against the likes of BMW, Merc, Lexus who are known for reliability, comfort, prestige etc.
You'd think they would try and make it affordable so people would choose them rather than something some people consider better anyway.

Renault? good luck..

Having visited NZ last year and being hugely impressed with the cheap cost of living INSERT INTO post VALUES (using the Big Mac comparison factor:D ) and BigDave kept raving about the fact that every 18 year old seemed to be driving a Skyline, the fact that a service costs about the same seems pretty scandalous to me - but then I'm only a muppet widow:wavey:

It was about $1000 in parts and the rest was labour, and then about $250 in our sales tax. They did spend 12.7 hours and did the spark plugs which is a big job in itself.
